So these were my first attempt at painting white mini's always wanted a snowy themed army so thought id give it a sho now i had moer extra time on my hands, i was going to enter the TOEG with my imperial army to keep it going along and get things painted but i started with these 2 fellas then since im not working at the moment painted my entire 5k of imperial stuff in just under 6 days so now i have no more to paint for the tracking thread haha.
So here they are, comments and feed back always welcome.

And yes they still need the imperial egales and other icons painted on them, im just not sure what colours hence they delay :) suggestions would be nice.

Regards

Tim NZ

I think they could use a bit of shading. You could do a wash of blue over them and then repaint the white over top to add some contrast or try to just apply a blue wash to the shadowed areas.

I would just add varying levels of griffon sepia and devlan mud between the armour plates and pooling around vents and the like. Fine streaks also work well when you run them down from the gaps between the plates and any bolts on the miniature. You could even give the whole thing a [i]very[/i ]thin - almost translucent - once over with either, to bring down the brightness and give it an "armour in the field" look.

Otherwise, if you're going for a high "cartoon" look you can add a very thin sky blue+white paint wash between the plates to give the white a shade like Vaaish mentions but save you the hassle of having to repaint all the white.

Here's an example - it's a bit off topic and game system. but you'll understand what I mean..

I think there is already shading in between plates, but grey shading where many people like to shade white in blue. I like the grey, myself. Maybe you could emphasize them more however...

I also think some weathering would be nice and help bringing some contrast, specially on the legs. Light sponge work with a dark grey on the edges, some pigment mud work around the lower legs, light washes around the vents with diluted black/brown for oil stains.

The red sensor lenses work well, but why not paint the one on the Plasma blast gun as well ?
I think painting the "rim" around the carapace in black would work good, and as for the eagles and such, I think black or possibly metal would be nice.

I think the mostly white, a few black contrasts, and very little speck of colors (canopy, sensor lenses, plasma coil, maybe a warning stripe somewhere) works very well. Actually it is about the same for black in my opinion.

Mechanicus icon with black/white cog, white/dark metal skull in the opposite side (classic).

i personally much prefer to shade white (and highlight black) with grey rather than a blue shade myself

the warhounds look great mate, white schemes are cool ^_^
(as to the colouring, i'd go with brass accents, if you want to put stripes or other marking, red is a good choice)

I do aktually like them very much, its true that there could be more shading, but imho not necessarily as they look cool as they are!

Yeah, I like the dark grey/black shading myself; If anything is needed, just a bit strengthening of that.

As for the aquilas and skulls and whatnot, I'd suggest the black/white omnissiah theme for the skulls, and brass with a black background for the eagles. As long as there's a background, the latter won't have that weird gold on white look to them.

I think those look pretty neat. The one thing I might suggest is differentiating the base a little more.

Cool looks good to me! White is a nice scheme.

I'd suggest gold for eagles, but maybe "yellower" than gold on mine:

thanks for all the feedback so far, and i have taken on some of your advice, atmospheric you had some good key points that i really liked and tried to expand on with the model so here is a updated pic so far, i think it does look better with the shading more contrasted and depper int he joins, and the icons picked out, i went with the brass for the egales as most of you suggested .

Feedback and advice still welcomed :)

Love them
I have seen some of your Titans on e-bay ??? why?
I have painted mine similar ;)

@ Tim_nz
I do like yours too
like the contrast between the white and black/metal parts and the blue eyes
you could paint some of the metal parts with gold give them a chainmail highlight and a black wash
for example the hinge

Cheers, none of mine have been sold on e-bay though, probably just people using my pics for selling perhaps...

I think the shading works very well, and I'm glad you painted the other lens (on the plasma gun) :)

If you feel ready to invest the extra work, using gem-stones techniques on those could improve their look even more, but this is time consuming. here is a link toward a GW article on gemstones painting if you're interested. You'll need a steady hand and some patience if you want to go for it, but the result is very good.

As I did offer some bit of criticism, I feel like I haven't said it nearly enough : your white do in fact looks very good in my opinion !
I Also see on your last pics that you haven't picked the skull on the loin armour; As the bronze eagles works very well, I think you should do this skull with the same technique.
