Yes, its good to have a man on the inside !! ;D He no longer works there ... but since they don't support Epic ... No big deal !!! ;)

Maybe you could sweet talk Semaj into reverse-engineering some X vehicles?

Those x-vehicles would be easier to make than to the current eldar vehicles because they have fewer compound curves. If I ever had time to devote to them, I'd want a physical model in my hands to work off of, though.

The one thing about the X-vehicles that always bothered me is that I can not immediately tell which model corresponds to which tank type. It even seems to me that there are more unique X-vehicles than there are tank types, leading me to believe either GW intended to expand the tank range for the eldar (which would make sense given the number of tanks that the IG and Orks had in SM/TL) or that the X-vehicles represent multiple, distinct variants of the same tanks (as if GW put several iterations of each tank into limited production).

When my mind wanders, I sometimes think about trying to combine the lines of the old tanks with the detail style of the new tanks. The result would either evoke the look of the old school models but still fit in with the current models, or the results would look like an ugly mess.

Weren't some of the X-Vehicles also intended for use in BFG?

As I understand it, the entire range of the x-vehicles was briefly marketed and sold as a BFG Dark Eldar fleet, which is bizarre seeing as most of them look nothing like spaceships (even the flyers). The US mail order flyer Troll 41 has them down as follows:

Vampire = Nemesis class cruiser
Phoenix = Darkness class cruiser
Cobra = Gloom class frigate
Falcon = Striker class frigate
Nightwing = Firepoint and Chronos class fighters

THat is correct ... but they were originally to be released after Titan Legions ... as Epic Eldar Vehicles. BTW, Calling them "Eldar X-Vehicles" is not official ... we just came up with it one day when we were refering to them ... ;D

I suppose I should clarify, they don't look like I imagine Dark Eldar spaceships to look like ;) The Nightwings and Phoenix do look starfighter-esque, but the frigates (Cobra / Falcons) in my mind don't work as spaceships

It's a much better descriptor than my previous usage (limited released Epic Eldar / Dark Eldar BFG vehicles/ships)!
