I just get a new GW reaver and it has two different shoulder pauldrons eventhough both weapons are the same as turbolasers. Is this normal? I can see using 2 different ones when you have different arm weapon like the original kit with the fist and turbolaser but I think it might look strange in otherwise symmetric system.

Yes, it's normal. The "new" Reaver is the "old" Reaver.

Much like the alternative heads, the metal GW Reaver used to (read: AT-era) come with one set of identical pauldrons picked from two alternatives: one slightly longer and narrower than the other.

Sounds like you've got one of each. I haven't bought a Reaver from GW in years, so can't say whether this is an intentional change, I'm afraid, but it certainly sounds like a peculiar packing error.

It's not really a packing error. True, the Legio Ignatum one in the rulebook has matching pads, but I'd wager approximately half the Reaver Titans people have built over the years don't. Mine doesn't.

Neither of the ones in the 1991 Catalogue 1 had matching pads (even though one had matching arm weapons).

It's just personal preference.

Thanks for the replies. It just seemed odd to me. I was aware that the new Reaver was the old reaver as it looked exactly the same the one in my white dwarf from 89-90 but was just trying to be clear that it is current verison of the kit since gw is know do drop out stuff as time goes on.

Yes, the current kit comes with one of each pauldron.

I have an even number of Reavers in my army, so I was able to swap them around so that they all have matching shoulders.
