Along, long time ago ... The Epic Tau were not going to get Titans ... The Manta was their flying titan ... ;)

I was thinking more on this last night, and although IMO the Tau would be an obvious choice for walking titans, mostly because it would fit in nicely with their heavy reliance on armoured suit technology etc (and because it would look really cool), I can also see where their technology may preclude any thought of it. I guess I equate the Tau more to our modern day/near future technology and in todays wars having a giant slow moving behemoth stomping around the battlefield would be a complete waste of resources that could be better spent/used elsewhere in military technology. Today, we could launch tactical nuclear missiles at something like this from dozens and dozens (hundreds even) of kilometres away and destroy the thing utterly. The Tau may view walking Titans as a waste of resources better spent elsewhere and prefer to design unit for multi task roles, like the Manta to fill the role of spacecraft-come-sort-of-titan thereby maximising the usage of their resources.

The Tau are a highly mobile army, of course, and Titans are not typically all that quick.

Yes, after reading the novel Titanicus and seeing how long and tedious a task it is to unload titans to a planets surface, I guess something like this would be a liability to a highly mobile force.

I like the Tau titan-less character of their force; but I'd still love to see a grand model of a Tau titan :)
Perhaps a prototype which was not approved for production...... ;)

There are two reasons for not having Tau titans. Firstly, there is no real niche for them. Including bipedal Tau titans would step further on the limits of the Eldar, and it would be difficult to differentiate between them functionally on the battlefield. Secondly, as stated, the idea of towering humanoid war machines goes against the war doctrine of the Tau. Jervis was fairly set against the idea of Tau titans in the traditional sense, both before development started, and again a year or so ago. I enjoy seeing concepts of Tau titans, and some of the.... Gundam-esque models are very cool, but again any Tau titans would be very close conceptually to the Macross DX and Gundam figures.

Where there ever any official Moray models?

That must be a great weight lifted from your shoulders, relief such as this should not go uncelebrated :)

I used BFG Tau Protectors for my Moray miniatures...
