I have some questions about chaos from a modeling stand point.

1. Was the death wheel a real model kit or a kit bash offered by GW? I'm also looking for pictures of GW's original concept of it if that exist anywhere.

2. Does anyone have a picture or two of the silver towers next to a rhino, landraider, or infantry for size reference? I'm going to try to make my own since I'm having zero luck tracking any down.

3. Is there a clear pictured online reference for epic models? I looked at SoL and they don't have epic pictured. I have excepted the fact that IG, Space Marines, and Orks are the only thing I can buy at a reasonable price so I would like to start scratch building a chaos force rather than spend way more money than I should on the infantry and vehicles.

Welcome to the forums!

1.  All the death wheels are scratchbuilt.  I have a feeling that it was more of a player creation versus something GW came up with, but someone else would have to chime in on that.

2.  Silver Towers are roughly 20mm at the base and 35mm tall.  I wouldn't fuss too much over hitting the exact size and the Towers would be one of the easier scratchbuilds.

3. Epicollector
  has better pictures of some of the plastic infantry etc.  SoL does have pics of the older vehicles and Titans, but i'm guessing you missed them.

Were you looking at putting together a force off LaTD or the Black Legion list?

The Deathwheel, and the Decimator, was actually invented/created by Jervis Johnson for Epic: Armageddon with the desire that Chaos war engines would become more varied than just Imperial-vehicles-with-spikes.  Alas, the death of Specialist Games and end of active model development cut that desire short, but the units still remain in the current fan-worked lists as interesting models.

There are a lot of varieties of fan-made Deathwheel designs about, a search here on the forums should find you some excellent pics!

For silver towers I soured bitz sites to use 40k parts as proxies.

I stumbled across Tau gun drones and thought they might serve as a base for the towers. I ordered a bunch and then realised I could place the gun vertically on top to make the tower for my floating discs.

The only pic I have is of them in the background of the first pic in a campaign battle report:

SoL has plenty of epic, look under the catalogues, example   

Epicollector site is great but it makes that swoosh noise which drives me slightly insane after about 30 seconds...

Also, i like your tau-tower conversions deamonkin, i may have to steal that idea

Thanks so much for the links and tips so far guys! Im not sure what kind of army I'm building yet for chaos. In 40K I play Iron warriors so I think the majority of the stuff I build will be one the dark mechanicus side of things.
