seeing as you make some great terrain pieces, how come you never have any in your batreps?

What, you don't like my ruins and buildings and statues?  *laugh*

I'll try to slap down some fortifications for our next games.   :agree:

Turn 4

The nearly forgotten Avatar shows up!

Strategy Roll: TYRANIDS!!!

Assault Swarm 4 engages the Shining Spears and the intermingled Falcon…

2 Shining Spears go down, 2 Raveners go down… and the Eldar wind up winning by “4â€Â

Your ruins and buildings are cool, but those wooden pieces wih the flat edges you use for hills are ugly.

Anyway, nice batrep, really worth the wait. Go Tyranids!

Those hills aren't wooden pieces... they're the infamous Geo-Hex modular hill system!   :agree:

Make almost any shape you want, levels as you want, and easy to store!

Got about $250 of it for $50 at a used games sale a couple of years back, it's really useful stuff!  I reflocked and "double-sided" a lot of it, so there's green, grey, and tan sides for various battlefields.

Those things may be useful, but unfortunately they don't look good with those steep sides.

They make it great for determining "levels" of things on different hills... we think of it as looking at a holographic tactical map of the battlefield as well play.

And they're *much* easier to store than one-piece hills!  *laugh*

I see.
Well you know I posted different links to a lot of your battle reports in my resident forum, and the people were like "great batreps, but what is with those hills?".

It's actually not a games forum but a general forum which also has a 40k section, as it once joined with a 40k-forum (where I was a user). Most users play or know 40k though mostly have no greater interest in Epic.

It's the forum for

which is part of

My favourite part is hopefully still to come- the Players' Summaries.

How did you think the armies worked?

My favourite part is hopefully still to come- the Players' Summaries.

I think the Tyranids performed quite well.

The whole "Tooth and Claw" thing still worked at 5000 points, I didn't really feel I was lacking anything not having a Dominatrix... I preferred having 3-4 more Synapse swarms!  *laugh*  Fighting Eldar Titans was tough, especially the Warlock, as it can throw out so much damage... had to commit a lot of my force to taking it, and the Revenants, down.  If the Revs hadn't failed (on a 2+) on Turn 2, I think my combined assault would've been thwarted.

And, even though I know there are people who disagree, I still don't see Warriors as LVs as the "kiss of death", and I don't think I was excessive in the Raveners and the Assault Swarms appeared suitably tooth-n-clawy; they're effective for their points, resiliant, and three compare favourable to a single Hive Tyrant.

I'll have to get Drek to post his own thoughts on Alaitoc, but I really like them; they feel quite distinct from Biel-Tan or Ulthwe in my experience.  The garrisoned Falcons with the Ranger Warhosts can be nasty, but they've got to be positioned well or wind up being vulnerable early on.  And Eldar Pathfinders... the bane of Synapse!  *laugh*

Anyway, I'm going to post a picture I've got comparing a Tyranid Warrior to a normal human Infantryman, and I hope it shows why I consider "light vehicle" to be an appropriate type for Warriors:
