Umm, and with deference and respect to the "fluffyphiles" here, I get the distinct impression that there is insuffient materiel to support one view or another. So, could there be any mileage in just settling down and defining (or re-defining) them?
For example, taking what Stompazilla presented we could say that :- - Tau are happy to give up territory to gain an advantage - Tau use this mobility to avoid combat unless they have an overwhelming advantage - Tau can form strong defensive positions from which they launch their assaults - Tau make extensive use of technology to compensate for the limited number of soldiers
etc
