Sounds like it was a great day. Maybe next year I can get things sorted out to make it again.

I really wish there was more of a Tournament Scene around here...

How many people participated in the Scenario Sunday... I'm dying for feedback!

Well there were 16 people melting in the sweltering heat on Saturday, while only 4 ended up on Sunday as a number pulled out at the very last minute.

The tournament scenario is ok, but can be a bit 'samey' and tends to drive particular tactics etc. However, it is really good to have a number of people who enjoy meeting up for competitive games played in an exceptionally good and friendly spirit.

I have done a quick write up of 'Cleanse', the others played 'Ambush' and we ended playing a joint IG vs Marine 'Spearhead' that was really excellent - - to be written up in a bit.

You were missed by everyone - well except for Dave T, Joe, Steve, Matt, the Marks, Dave B, Chris and all the others you tend to pick on at these events

A quick report before I go on Holiday on Tuesday.

My list was,
Tacticals + Hunter + Supreme Commander (BTS)
Tacticals + Chaplain
Devatsators + Hunter
Land Speeders
Scouts
Terminators + Librarian
T/Hawk
T/Hawk
Warhound
Warhound
T/Bolts

game 1) v. Chris Steele aka.Skulric(Space Marines)
My Terminators performed to perfection in this game,3 Air Assaults and hardly a missed attack from them coupled with the t/bolts taking out Chris' 2 T/bolt formations led to a 4-0 turn 3 win.
I hope Chris enjoyed the game as much as me  :agree:

game 2) v. Mark Williams aka. The Phantom(Eldar)
We both play games based around assaults and there usually isn't much left for either side towards the end and this was no different.Mark didn't have his usual activation malfunction at critcal times and my Terminators were almost useless this game. But with a mistimed move to grab my blitz by Marks Aspects this left me with a 2-0 turn 3 win.
Very close game as usual and an exhausting game to play with the heat and amount of thought that went into it.

game 3) v. Steve Gullick aka.Steve54(Black Legion)
After a cagey 1st turn by us both I had a lucky break when Steve's Chosen broke through poor armour save rolls left no Flak coverage over most of his army.I manged to whittle the  WE's out of the game and won 2-0 turn 4.
As always a very enjoyable game against Steve.

In some strange way, yes I did! As it was my first tourney game using marines it was very useful to see how marines should be played:
- Speeders garrisoned so they can start on over watch
- The Terminator/Thunderhawk merry-go-round, and
- the agressive use of your Warhounds. It's just a pity that my Devastators were too good at shooting, forcing one of them to break, whereas I was only looking to drop the shields so another formation could go in for the kill!

Thanks for the Masterclass!  :)

Skullric

A re-examination of the scores from the last game on Saturday has discovered an error that needs to be addressed. Totally my fault at the end of a long and very hot day. I misread the form, saw 5-0 and put down the usual score 32-0 when it should have been 29-3. The change results in both Steve Gullick and Mark Hargrave ending the tournament with identical scores. Reviewing the other  scores under the tie-breaker rules gives Mark the edge by the tiniest of margins, so the results stand, and are as follows:-

1         Dave Thomas        Space Marines
2         Joe Jeffson            Orks
3         Mark Hargrave       IG Steel Legion
4         Steve Gullick          Black Legion
5         Mark Williams         Eldar
6         Matt Otter             Space Marines
7         Mark Preston         Space Marines
8         Ryan Downe          IG Steel Legion
9         Dave Bartley          IG Steel Legion
10       Gavin McKenzie      Space Marines
10       Nick Rice                Space Marines
12       Kevin Bott              Eldar
13       Chung-yiu Lee       Space Marines
13       Alan Saunders       Orks
15       Chris Steel             Space Marines
16       Tom Webb             IG Steel Legion

In a shock move chris hadn't brought orks! But too ease the transition his marines were green...
