3 pictures of WIP epic scaled haruspex and dactylis wannabe's I'm converting. Basic gist from official model(after bit more creative attempt failed spectaculary. Rather than angry bug I had timid worm :D). I'm hardly pro sculptor(actually my experience with sculpting is pretty much zero) which shows.

So can these be salvaged into something bearable(and if yes some tips would be appreciated) or should I just skip it and try to find some better alternative. Either hiring somebody so the sculpts or if I deem that+moulds+resin cost too much just pay the ~10e+ per "tank"(of all 4 variants) they seem to go for in ebay?

Dactylis wannabe has received some extra work after picture was taken but nothing major. The haruspex wannabe has 2 rods where claws will get. Another pair will be made but I need to drill a holes for them(should have done that when greenstuff wasn't cured yet).

So: Utter crap or salvageable? Starting from scratch isn't likely going to work since it's unlikely it would do any good.

Note if they are utter crap feel free to say so. I won't get insulted since I know I'm bad sculptor anyway ;-) Not hoping to do masterpieces here. Just something that's decent enough that I can live with army of those and not get laughed out of tournaments :D

Quite simple yet they work.

Once you get a few of them done, they should be quite cool and a damn site cheaper than the real thing.

:agree:

Cheers...

Oh getting "few" of them won't be problem since if I get them working I'll be hiring certain person to make moulds out of these for me. Then I'll get whole BUNCH of resin ones in quick order.

No way I would be scratchbuilding legion of these. These are tricky enough as it is! I have no intention of scratchbuilding same thing tons of times.

Problem is getting them to be of decent quality in a first place so they are worth the effort of making moulds of them.

No comments? If you aren't commenting because they are utter crap remember you aren't doing me any favours that way. Opposite infact :D

Some more work has gone on them. New pics on there.

Now working on getting rid of finger prints and starting to form basic shape for some new stuff as well(helps if there's more than 1 model so if I need to wait for greenstuff to cure with model A I can switch to model B and then to C).

Not a bad start, like the face on haruspex :)

I think shaping the 'rolls' more like chitin plates (so leading to sharper edge on rear sie) rather than rolls like caterpillar, would improve overall appearance. And yes add spikes :)

Spikes on their way but since they will be rather small I'll add them last 'least I accidently crush them when working on some other part :D

I'll see if I can get them to be more like plates(which actually was the intention originally...).

I have also worked on the dactylis turret after receiving less than complimentary comparison of it to certain bodypart   .

New pictures put in place(note old ones were removed so while picture names are same images are still different). Haruspex has altered back. Hopefully it's now more of armoured plates. Still going to add spikes to back once those dry enough you can touch them without leaving your fingerprint on them!

Dactylis has had turret altered a bit.

Now working on haruspex scythes.

the haruspex face is a little wallace and gromit.
