@E&C: Have you read "Storm of Iron"? The Iron Warriors are there are quite Khorne influenced. Even an Avatar(!) of Khorne manages to appear during the battle.

And where does it say that the Legio Mortis is now a part of the Iron Warrors? Imho they are hired allies as every other Chaos Titans and God specific stuff.

And the list already has entrechments.

Sorry I missed the entrenchments, but the rest of my comments stand.

This list doesn't look like an Iron Warriors list, it looks like a World Eaters/Iron Warriors alliance.

IF that is your intention (apparently it is) then it should be called the 'Storm of Iron' army list, because it is *not* a pure Iron Warriors army list.

I'm with Ben. I'd want a legion in gun metal glory. Artilary (esp. zero move stuff), infantry, Vindies, AA emplacements, War Engines, fortifications (very small amounts, certainly no bunkers, just emplacements, wire, minefields and trenches).

Saying that if you stick with this do call it storm of iron as opposed to Iron warriors.

'Pure' Iron warrior lists I saw in the past had zero move flak and arty in emplacements, trenches, wire and minefields options for the core unit (non mechanised infantry), then the BL IC warengines (and ideas on siege breaker warlord/reaver), mechanised infantry, basilisk and hydra platforms and armour formations for support. Upgrades were stuff like vindicators, havocs, the emplacement stuff and so on. Some lists had demons others didn't bother. Typically I think they went for a 3-1 ratio of support to core. I came down on the side of using non mobile basilisks to give a more 'epic' and pre positioned set up (plus balance issues, though maybe could use 1st edition Basilisks). I can see how that list can be diversified with the demon arty and everything else but at its core I like the look it gave.

Agreed; a true Iron Warriors list shouldn't include the Khorne elements, they might reflect the army that fought in Storm of Iron but if this is the intention for the list it should more be branded as a Storm of Iron themed list than a generic Iron Warriors one.

Oh I've actually got an army list for them (they are the chaps who fought at Armageddon right and sold their gear to the orks?). I've never posted it as I've only played with it once ages back, but the core mechanic was that it revolved around 1st edition infantry with Lascannon as the support weapon (with AP weapons carried by vehicles and fire support stands).

Maybe BL it would be an idea to have an iron warriors list but use this list as the basis for scenario forces?

Well if changing the name of the list to Storm of Iron will cut out the complaining then I'm all for it.
This list acurately refelects the Iron Warriors army used on Hydra Cordatus. Anyone who has a problem with that should take it up with Graham McNeil...

It doesn't reflect the Iron Warriors army deployed there... it relects the Iron Warriors / World Eaters alliance that deployed there.

I've seen no mention of World Eaters in the book at all but I have seen multiple uses of the name Iron Warriors...

I think its part ben of the GW muddle over who gets to be a cult marine. Only the original chapters with the rest getting to have the mark only? The Black Legion as well? Or anyone can become a berserker/plague marine/rubric etc.

According to Gav Thorpe (formerly the Studio's background expert) only World Eaters or Black Legion volunteers can be 'Khorne Berzerkers'.

Other fallen Marines can turn to Khorne and become angry nutters, but 'Berzerkers' specifically means World Eaters or Khornate Black Legion.

Well how about we just accept that there are some angry nutters in the Iron Warriors that are best suited by using Bezerker stats (read the book). This is TOTALLY in line with the fluff from the book (Kroeger rips people in half and pours their blood everywhere... quite bezerk).

This arguing over names of units is a waste of time. If there were official Iron Warriors angry nutters, they would have Bezerker stats. If BL created Iron Warrior angry nutters, there would undoubtedly be shouts of unnecessary and as Bezerkers fit the bill, why not use them?

Move on nothing to see here.

The list states that it is the Iron Warriors 4th Grand Company. So yes it is the forces deposited on Hydra Cordatus.
This Iron Warriors list is as themed as the core rulebook armies which are based on the 3rd War of Armageddon.

Well if you want to go strictly by what units are mentioned in Storm of Iron then you should remove
- spawn
- daemons
- raptors
- desecrators
- aircraft
- Superheavies
- Reaver

Also I believe in the initial assault on the spaceport it is mentioned that Kroeger and his retinue are going down the path of Khorne but have not gone completely and are not Berzerkers

Agreed (with the obvious exception of the Deamon Prince).

- raptors
- desecrators
- aircraft

- Reaver

I believe these should be included for reasons of army list balance/completeness.

Of course, if you want to get into using units from the book, then Iron Warriors should have Leman Russ tanks (pg 133).
An argument could also be made for the Iron Warriors to have tunneling vehicles.

On page 66 Forrix is watching the unloading of the Iron Warriors army and it describes him watching mobile artillery pieces. Sounds like Basilisks (not zero move stuff) to me.

I could see a point in dropping the Bike Retinue (doesn't seem vey seige) but I can live with it in the list for army flexibility.

Also I believe in the initial assault on the spaceport it is mentioned that Kroeger and his retinue are going down the path of Khorne but have not gone completely and are not Berzerkers
I agree with this (and have already mentioned as much).
But
On page 33 it says "Kroeger's blood-maddened bezerkers". It is entirely appropriate that units with Bezerker stats are used in the Iron Warriors army.
