The bases look good, but yeah you might have gone a little too light with them. Instead of the sepia try using the old standard citadel brown ink wash if you have it. It is ink and really potent (I had forgotten just how potent it was, trust me I was cursing the stuff!), but it works great on toning down earth and gravel if you dilute it.

Barring that in the new citadel wash range you could use Devlan Mud. In my opinion this wash is the best all-purpose wash of the range and if you don't have it I highly recommend picking up a bottle. Works great on anything red too!

By the way, I like that you went with the scorched earth rim. It "anchors" the lightness of the base.

Hope you can post some more stuff soon Warhead!

(p.s. If you still have an overabundance of old school Warhounds my up and coming Chaos legion is calling for reinforcements!)

Thanks guys, couldn't have done it without your help and encouragement. I may try the Devlan Mud. I've already based a squad of Crusader Knights ready for painting so I'll experiment on them.

Spare Warhounds?.. I'm sorry Malakai but I'm worrying I can adequately supply my own Chaos Legions. I may still have some bits and pieces of one or two body sections but no legs or guns. PM me if you're interested.

I use Devlan mud and black washes all the time now for bases, it's great, and quick too.

Lovely wee twins there Warhead, any names yet?

I do the 4 'Bs'

Sand followed by:
Black ink
Bestial Brown
Bronzed Flesh
Bleached Bone

Although this is only on large bases. For infantry I usually go with a mix of sand/flock or just sand and washes of grey/brown for urban

Good looking titans.

Hey thanks lads, as I said I had some good help.

Names?.. nope not yet. I like the names in the David Gemmell novels so maybe Cadoras or Deathwalker... I may use these for Eldar Titans. I know I should go for the Latin but I'm ashamed to say I'm no expert on Latin and wouldn't know what I was about even with a translator. Any suggestions?..

I suppose I could go for dog like names...  :sulk:

! :oo: ! ...Meet "Pot Licker" and "Leg Humper"... hmmm, may need some work.

Just take a normal english word and drop last letter or 2 and add is, ex, um etc. Or take latin names for animals - canis (dog/wolf) and add to imperial - imperis, imperatis

Warhound - Imperis canum

I like the Tempestus warhound from Mechanicum - Raptoria.

Legum Humpus? Legio Humpum?

Yeah, Raptoria is good.

I prefer to name my Titans after they have survived a battle or two and earned some respect. Nothing worse than coming up with a cool name and background and seeing your Titan turn into a smoking crater on the first turn.

Kind of like naming a warship Invincible.  :vD

You've turned "baby blue" into a menacing color Warhead!  :p

LOL!  :vD Thanks Malakai, well I did say Aw, it's a boy... hmmm, maybe pastle pink for the girls?.. Baby blue!?!  :glare:

I just wanted a slight difference to Dark Blue. Not that there is anything wrong with Dark Blue... I just don't think you can see the deatils on the model well enough if it's dark.

DS: Invincable... Yeah, talk about pulling the nose of fate and shouting I don't beleive in irony... :))  worse yet, Titanic, the unsinkable... I think fate put the full stop on that bit of PR.

Looking cool thou. Perhaps I shall keep my warlord?
