Jimbo and the Gang,
he's bound to pop up again soon, but he's not been around recently come back soon |
Thanks for the kind words. I'm really touched. It's good to be missed.
I posted another note elsewhere (general discussion area).
-------------------------------------------
The primary reason I've been out is that I've been burned out with Epic (I'm taking a Primarch-trip!).
Sometimes, I also wonder whether I contribute anything worthwhile to this site. The complaining can be a real downer.
I've been wanting to return to gaming and actually play again.
My big playtest partner, Chern, is gone and might not return. That really depresses me.
Signius is busy rennovating his new house.
In addition, my computer has taken several dumps. I think I have the problems mostly mastered by now, but who knows. Computers (and women) are fickle things.
My sister has also needed me lately (ex-husband problems) so I've been helping her out with my nephews (taking them to school sometimes, baby-sitting, etc.).
I even shaved (I've had a beard and looked like a rabbi for years) because I want a contract job in a desperate way this year. I've been interviewing for various permanent positions and putting too much effort into a work search.
SO BASICALLY, life has intervened.
------------------------------------
The good news is that I have been able to do some other gaming. My local gaming group had a western game yesterday and my posse cleaned house.
I have also been playing a lot of air games with my friend, Rob, and have been doing really well. I haven't flown anything but MiGs though. I keep rolling the Arabs, N. Koreans, and Russians for my side.
I've even been painting some lead and plastic (my Jopallis and some 6mm modern aircraft).
The other good news is that I got a part-time job writing war game reviews and articles.
-------------------------------------
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!
Glad you're back!
I understand burnout, it happens to me quite frequently, so its good to take vacations for gaming, do something else that makes you happy for a while and then return to it if it suits you. Its only a game after all and its there for your pleasure, not the other way around.
As for the complaining? Who has DARED complain about you...huh...huh? I personally kick their rear ends for that!
I publically place Maksim under official "Primarch-protection" mess with him at your peril!
Seriously though, words are cheap, they are easy to say and write, actions speak louder. I think you form a valuable part of the epic community. I'm not just saying that to be polite. I have been around the "epic block" for quite some time and know "who has the goods" and who doesn't.
You GOT the goods! So feel good about yourself!
As for real life, well, thats inescapeable. We all must bow to it sooner or later, it doesn't diminish your life it just adds to it!
So welcome back and share your thoughts with us, they are highly appreciated!
Primarch

Welcome back Max!
Life always intervines with us at some times. Simply don't worry about it, it gets to us all, and no one is complaining or saying you shouldn't take time off.
All the best
Chris

Maksim:
Sometimes we all need a break from Epic or general wargaming, and sometimes those breaks are forced on us (I am going through a really busy time right now and have not got around to an update for a while because of it).
It is good to hear that you are still around, and active in the wargaming world (congratulations on the review job, it sounds perfect for you). Take your time, get your life sorted out as much as possible (pass our best to your sister). Your place will be here whenever you are able to pop in. Your contribution is extremely valued on these boards.
All the best.

Jimbo and Gang,
One of my biggest regrets is that I have a very large collection of painted miniatures that have yet to see the Internet. With my sister, AKA digital camera specialist, under such pressure, I have lost my biggest access to good digital photography and editing. I really want to get some photos to Jimbo for his site as well as the gallery.
Jimbo,
If you're interested, I'll post battle reports from te jet fighter games in the general area.
When I have some of the jets better finished, I'll try to photograph them for your gallery as well. We'll try to get my buddy's photos as well. We have a pretty good set of Korean War aircraft pianted as well as a good starting assortment of aircraft for the Arab-Israeli wars that occurred from the 1967-1973 period. Rob wants to play Vietnam and the Falklands as well. I hope to also play the Indo-Pakistani and "what-if" Turko-Greek confrontations.
----------------------------
Tas,
I'm finishing up my Jopallis. The current project is to finish converting the Thud Guns. The infantry need more piant slapped on as well (although they are built at this point).
I can probably take on a project if you would like the help.
I think the worst of "life's little intervention" has probably passed by at this point.
------------------------------
L-4,
To make you feel better, I will publicly state:
I WAS KIDNAPPED BY ALIENS FROM THE DELUCIA PLANETARY SECTOR. THEY WERE HORRIBLE. THEY FORCED ME TO THE GYM AND FED ME OVERWHELMING AMOUNTS OF A PASTA-LIKE SUBSTANCE!
How's that for a tabloid headline?
-----------------------------------
Primarch, Chris, Cybershadow, StormSeer,
Thanks for everything.
-----------------------------------
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Well Maksim, I knew aliens had something to do with it ... that does sound horrible ... but it also sounds vaguely familiar to me ? ?
