I cannot find any reference in Swordwind, erratas nor FAQ to say when is place the webway portal.
My eldar opponent use to place it just after the 6 objectives are placed, and it works fine like this. But I wonder if somewhere there is a written piece of rule to about this.

Oh, and what happened if two ennemy eldars armies with portals meet together ? Rules about webway portal say nothing about using (or not using) ennemy/friendly/own army portal. I suppose that only friendly portals may be used, but it's only a supposition ...

The details on how to place the Wraithgate is detailed in the actual Biel-Tan army list.

The Eldar player *replaces* one of the objectives on their half with the Portal, and it is treated both as a Gate and an Objective.  So, they'll either replace the Eldar Blitzkrieg objective, or one of the two objectives that the opponent has placed on the Eldar half.

Does that all make sense?

Yes, but that do say when the objective is replaced :

- when placing own blitzkrieb objective or when the opponent has placed one of his objectives ?
- when all the objectives have been placed ?
- any when the eldar player wish to do ?

once all objectives have been placed i believe...and (in no way an official FAQ) i'd do a roll off to see who get's to place first if two webway portals are being used between armies.

I've always assumed that the wording strongly implies that you replace one objective with the Wraithgate after all the objectives have been placed.  This is how I've played it and it seems to have worked without any glitches.

Without anymore precision, in the !extrem!, the eldar player may replace an objective during the game !

Like the others, I have always played it that the gate gets placed after all objectives have been placed, but before anything else happens (like off-table reserves or Spacecraft plotting). The point being that if the gate is positioned at any other time (as Flogus implies) it will help or hinder one or other player.

In Swordwind Biel-Tan Army list under the note setion for the wraithgate it states,
The Wraithgate functions both as a Webway portal and as an objective marker for rules purposes. It may not be attacked or destroyed.

The highlighted section states it functions as an objective marker for rules purposes so under section,
6.1.4 Place Objective Markers
The webway would have to be placed before moving onto the next stage of set-up 6.1.5 set-up spacecraft and garrisons.
Also as Hena has already stated, this partThe Eldar player may choose to replace one of the objective in hishalf of he table with a wraithgate at a cost of 50 points suggests it is placed after all of the original objectives have been placed.

Hope this helps.

I think this is correct. dptdexys provided relevant quotes.

I may be stating the obvious, but it should also be that the Eldar player purchases the gate prior to anything in the game (i.e. during the army build).  If the player chooses to not place it or use it, the points are spent regardless.

Oh, the points are definitely paid during army creation, but it's during setup that the Eldar player can decide if/how many formations to hold in reserve with it.
