I just found this on the web:

40K Murphy Law

Highlights:

33) Eldar are just embarassed that they never discovered the wheel. Think about it. _Nothing_ Eldar rolls. Never has, never will.

36) Orks don't think Gretchen are good fighters, but they allways have a screen of them to hide behind as the Grots get to fight first...

64) No one, not even commanders with incredible skill at using ranged weapons, ever thinks to shoot those helmetless Terminator Captains in the head.

128) For so far in the future, none of the vehicles have a 'reverse' setting. They just go slow and hope they can turn around.

154) If an Apothocary needs to be in base contact to heal, and the bike rams anything it goes into base contact with . . . who in their right mind would put an apothocary on a bike?

...and one for us Epic players:

29) Even though Dante, Mephiston, and Marenus Calgar are emensly well-known and respected leaders, tehy feel a need to strut out onto the battlefield in a suprising ammount of games involving 'merely' a few thousand point of troops.

hehe  :D

Yes, but there are obvious logical glitches there. SOme people must seem not to read the fluff quite cautiously.

For example, they compare thee fact, that five DW Terminators retook their home planet from Genestealers, while entire UM 1st Co was annihilated at the Macragge by the Tyranids.

There are two things:
1. There was more then 5 Deathing Termiantors going to battle, actually it was a whole company, and ONLY five survived. But they annihilated the Stealers. Sure. But not an entire planet, my god! It was one big, hulking city full of Stealers and Hybrids, with the few non-infested humans turned to being slaves.
2. You cannot compare even a whole town of Stealer Purestrains to an entire HiveFleet, can you?

I never had time to read the lot, the first section I was reading was for last Ed.

The essense is true, though.  For instance - Why do the advanced Eldars best warriors (the Pheonox lords) not carry an item affording them an invulnerable save?  Apart from Asurmen (who gains it from a skill really) they very vulnerable.  Yet the imperium have refractor fields and iron halo's coming out of their arse.

And then, the shuriken Catapults. Why o Why give a gun to your grunts who, by the way, are invaluable to your races survival, only has a range as far as you can throw. I mean, if a gaunt can move 19-24" in one movement phase, then a gun with a 12" range is suicide.  ???  :-:  :oo  :l  :{

Hi!

I think we should pin these "murphy laws" to access them easily, I think they are pretty funny.

If you want to shoot thin metal discs go for it, but don't expect any wondrous ballistic properties.  :;):

Like I have said before: why don't marines with enhanced eyesight and night vision built into their helmets see in the dark any better than a regular human with no night vision...

And the list goes on.

The Salamanders used to. They had a genetic defect that let them see in Infrared. I wonder where that went?

Well, I'm gonna write up a list of logical explanations... at least for stuff that has them.

As for Shurikens... They have a short range, sure. Must be GW mistake. On other hand, they are Assault 2... remember that a Bolter has range of 12" and only 1 shot when moving...
And the Shuriken has same range and 2 shots...

Sure, it should be something as Rapid Fire 2, I think. Or increase the range to 24". Dunno.

If there is any logic in 40K rules, it's questionable.  In my mind, (and what do I know !) the 40K rules are just plain bad !!!  But a lot of kids like them, so the game makes $$$, inspite of itself.  40K rules are G/W's version of Heroclix ...          }:)

Hi!

I dumped 40k back in the RT days. While the background was good, the rules were pretty ridiculous. I'm not swayed much by recent rules either. At best I consider the rules mediocre.

Well, the 40k has one thing, which IMO is better than in VOID, VOR, Warzone (2nd edition) or even Stargrunt. Namely, the armor penetration system. A vehicle has an armor rating and a gun has penetration. This IMO is the one and only way to handle armor penetration. In fact, I can't understend why to do it in a different way.  ???

I am holding my breath for Ultimate Warzone but I have been used to getting disappointed in this respect.

A funny thing is I wrote my own set of vehicle rules for 2nd edition Warzone. In friday I read the latest issue of Fictional Reality where they give a glimpse in the game mechanics. The action rules for vehicles are nearly identical to the ones I wrote.  :O  They stole my thoughts!!!!  :p  :p
