So some interesting things about this Necron list.  Six of ten formations started on the board.  Three formations were Eques.  Two Pylons.  Only one Monolith.  The Necrons played completely different from a typical list.  Instead of the vicious, plodding, wall of death; the Necrons played small, fast, and fluid for the most part.  I only had three total portals on the board but since most things started on the board it didn’t hamper me at all.

Turn 3 was VERY tight.  The Orks were clearly in control of the Necron backfield and pushing the Necrons out of the way.  But with the only strong mob formation the furthest from everything and two weakened, blast marker laden formations on the front, I felt comfortable about tying up their advance with the Armored Phalanx and the Destroyers.  Still, some lucky rolls on his part (or unlucky on mine) could have landed him in control of two of my objectives.

The Ork Blitz was clearly in my control at the beginning, but the Stormboyz need only contest the objective to take that point away from me.  I might have been able to keep it but only at the expense of my backfield.  We’ll never know.

Two Pylons in two turns took out two planes and two Stompas.  Pretty much what I expected them to do.  Their position was clearly a defensive one of holding my blitz and defending each other within FF range.

One thing is for certain – an Ultimate Eques list was a fun, unique experience for me with the Necrons.  It was a challenge but not overly so.  A good game!

Comments welcome.

Thanks for the batrep, Bill!

Cool to see a "variant" Necron list and that it can do some decent damage.

A good read, thanks mate. :) Seemed like a good close game.

It is really nice to see that fast type of a necron army is playable. :agree:

I enjoyed that Battle Report too and found the style of your choice to be very interesting. I'll need to think some more but good to see it's possible to deploy formations instead of mostly using portal/teleport. I think this is as it should be.

Nice to see the Necrons take the field anytime but yours do look good.

Thanks for posting.
