Hey all.

Would a Chaos Titan legion be able to use the same rules as an Imperial one? Can we simply change the fluff and name etc, and use the latest V3.12 rules for a Chaos Titan legion army? Are there any Chaos specific changes that would have to be made?

Thanks,
Steve.

If you just wanted to use Titans, it shouldn't be a problem.  Adding Daemons and Daemon Engines might need some fine tuning.

Well, you couldn't take the specific Chaos Warlord Titan tail weapons or include Cult Titans (Banelord and friends, Slaanesh Subjugator and Questor). Chaos Energy Whip is no problem, as all close combat weapons in that list are the same.
Other than that, you could use that list, yes.

That list would be a fine for a Legion that had only just gone over to Chaos. Either a legion that maybe only the upper ranks were aware that had succumbed to the lure of Chaos. Or where the legion maintains many of their old rituals , maybe with only small changes to the details.

What was the name of Legion associated with Iron Warriors?

Cheers

James

Nothing to stop it at all.  As a matter of fact, if you look around there's a Nurgle legion someone did using one of the previous AMTL versions (Warmaster Nice, I think).

You can pretty much use any list as long as you can make a reasonable link.  I think it was mageboltrat that did an army using the IG list which was converted as Nurgle-y traitors rather than using the L&D cultist list.  I have a "counts as" list in an appendix of the Blood Axe list for fielding Blood Axe Orks using the IG army list.  White Scars list to represent a Dark Angels Ravenwing-centered force is another possibility.

I do have some Nurgle titans but they weren't exactly made according to any list. Perhaps it is Mageboltrats Nurgle army you're referring to Neal?

Agreed. And of course there's nothing stopping you from using count-as rules for some weapons (a chaos tail could count as a Chainfist for example. As long as your chaos titan conversion ends up with 4 weapon hardpoints I don't see any particular issues with it)

As for heavier mutated legions and the original traitor titan legions: I may remember it wrong, but I think some fluff stated that the old Traitor Titan legions are now pretty much scattered and do not operate as a coherent force, but rather as smaller individual chaos titan "warbands". I could be wrong though.
It won't have much impact for your average E:A game, but it could raise some questions if you plan to assemble the entire Legio Mortis for example.

I reckon that 3.12 could give a good representation of a Chaos Titan Legion...

...as regards developing a specifically Chaos-themed Titan Legion army list, that no more falls within my NetEA remit than developing an Eldar Titans army list.

As I recall, the consensus was that we needed a pretty solid imperial list as a template before trying to break out a chaos titan version.

I'm fine with it taking the form of a "Chaos Titan Warband" rather than being a legion.  Half a dozen titans with their crazed worshipers (Machine God? Hah! Face the wrath of a true god incarnate!) sounds pretty cool to me.

I support going fully counts-as here.

Counts-as is, once you embrace it, one of the great strengths of E:A. Instead of putting singular stats on every model ever produced for epic, you can field them all and use generic profiles for them that, all said and done, vary little, in game effect, from specific rules for each and every mini.

Guess I´ll do a C-AMTL one day, I´ve got four of those early 90´s 40k Chaos Dreadsnoughts, those Tyranid looking ones that sold at ~12 Euros / 24 Deutsche Marks  (7.95 pounds?) back then, to be abused as Banelords.

Thanks all  :agree:

I was toying with the idea of getting a few more Warmachine minis to proxy up and have a functioning Chaos Titan legion. We'll see how the funds pan out.

AFAIK there is no background that says that a Chaos Titan Legion must be heavily mutated and contain much cult titans. I rather think these cult titans are part of cult armies, thus you could find banelords with khorne berserkers and so on. Btw as in the Eye of Terror new Titans are produced, I think most cult Titans are built there as daemon engines from the beginning.

An "ordinary" Traitor Titan Legion (I don't know background about these Legions being scattered, like for example the World Eaters, either) would IMO be quite like an ordinary Imperial Titan Legion, with some slight changes. Therefore in my redesign of AT II I exclude cult titans on purpose from the ordinary Traitor Titan Legion list.
