Seriously nice Nid Bitch L4, love the purple rinse. Yes they could be splinter groups of the same Hive Fleet.

Thanks DS,

I'm beginning to come around to Dave's red and bone or WMN's green and bone or Olly's excellent blue and bone colour schemes. I have all those colours plus purple too but there all in day glow brightness. I am not re-painting! It could be a good self deceptive excuse to convince myself to buy more Nids however...

I was wondering (idle thoughts) has anyone on these boards ever fought a Hive War Nid against Nid for supremacy sort of thing. That would make a sweet game don't you think?..

Whouldn't that just be that they crash together in the middle, merge, evolve and come out the other side with arms and claws in new strange ways?

No, I think it means they will crash together fighting with all their cunning and know how leaving the victor the genetically stronger as nature intends.

It's that age old story of Hive Queen meets Hive Queen, Hive Queen eats other Hive Queen, remaining Hive Queen becomes stronger/wiser and goes on a feeding frenzy until it too is consumed by a bigger/better/wiser Hive Queen... Ah yes, how many times have we heard that story repeated throughout history...

I'm not all that much into the details of nid fluff, but wouldn't they all be controlled by the same single Hive Mind, even though they were from different Hive Fleets?

Even so, I do agree that a Nid vs Nid carnage would be quite a sight

Like you WMN I can't say for absolute but the way I imagine the Nids they are driven to consume all in order to evolve. This is a natural and overriding imperative. Each Hive Fleet would experience different enemies and evolve along different lines. In time this would make for widely divergent Hive Fleets of Nids. This is good because what could kill one Hive Fleet may not kill another. It is natural biological perfection. Obviously.

Would they fight each other? Maybe only if the two Hives evolutions became so alien that the Hive Mind no longer worked or perhaps one Hive is seen to be weaker and so is culled by the stronger to make a better Hive. Maybe if resources became scarce (more likely to go dormant and go off to seek new bio-mass) or perhaps even in order to force an evolutionary change forcing two strong Hives to fight to the death making the victorious Hive bigger and stronger as the end result. Who knows for sure. All I know is I would like to play that game...

I've never liked the Genestealer Cult Fluff that when the Hive Fleet arrives they all submissively allow themselves to be consumed. Hive Mind or not I think they go down screaming. The whole Nids with Allied races thing bugs (bugs! get it?!.) me something fierce too.

EDIT: HARUMPH!

Tyranid vs Tyranid... hmm... that would be a sight to see.

I guess its the same reason GW never do a Tyranid vs Tyranid, nor a Tau vs Tau battle report.

IIRC In Codex Tyranids it says that thjere are indeed inter-Tyranid wars from splinter fleets which have lost contact to the Hive Mind.

Didnt there used to be fluff that different Hive Fleets would compete to drive the stronger evolved creatures - kind of like deer and stag fighting at rutting season (now there is an image!).

Thanks lads, this is all good news. I'm getting the beginnings of an urge to do a Inter-Hive War Battle Report coming on.  :alien:
So any challengers?.. who wants to take on the might of Hive Fleet 'Titanicus?'
Approximately how many points would this be in E:A anyway?.. (37K in NetEpic = ? in E:A)+ Coversions still on hold for Rippers and more Bio-Titans. Ok so I wouldn't use it all.

That is completely, utterly and fascinatingly insane. 37 000 points? Man... Im complaining that I have so much to paint (Would reckon I have 5000 points to do, and maybe 20 000 done, spread over 5 armies). You really have a lot of painting to look forward to! But you have a nice horde-look going, so Im sure its gonna be quite excellent in the end  :agree:

Tyranid v Tyranid works great. Two anthills fighting!
