I'm about to start on a bunch of infantry.  They'll be based 5 to a 1 inch circle base.

Is it easier to stick them all to a craft stick and paint them and then move them onto a base or to just stick them to a base, texture it and prime and paint it as a single thing?

If I was putting them on the 40X12mm base side by side, I'd probably just base them first, but with using a circle, I'm hesitant.

Thoughts?

A 1 inch circular base is probably going to be about as difficult to paint as the old 20x20mm bases when the infantry is on there. I've done it but you have to have a steady hand and it probably would be quicker if they were on a strip.

Another thing to think about is how you're going to finish the base.

I prime and paint infantry on a stick, first. When they are done, I base them. I often add details afterwards, but basically I paint infantry on sticks. It's easier and faster.

I've done it both ways.  If you base/prime/paint/seal you get a more durable result, but I find prime/paint/base/seal a bit quicker.
