Hmm - so the CSM-Termies were in cover, hit by Night-Spinners. Average of 3 hits (at 4+), they must have thrown over the odds and then had a termie fail the armour save - - - and it went down-hill from there.

So what was the fate of the dice involved? Did they get fed to the nearest DP??

However, I am inruiged about the statement that the Phantom could have shot the Decimator virtually anywhere. Could you explain that further please. From the original photos, it looked like the big hill blocked the LoS to much of the left-hand side of the table. This is why I was suggesting that the BL would have set up somewhat further left of the actual position, allowing a general advance to that hill and the various nearby ruins.

Yep, the Nightspinners made 5 out of 6 possible hits, which would have broken the formation anyway, and only the Oblit failed it´s save, which was again the case when the Warlord´s Ret was nightspinnered. So bad luck was a factor.

The Phantom could have effortlessly doubled on the large hill, even into the ruins with Walker, the model is easily tall enough to bury all hopes of blocked LoS.

That´s why that small ridge was so attractive to hide behind.

Hmm - As Sun Tzu would observe, terrain certainly 'shaped' this (and the previous) battle by allowing the Eldar to target a lot of BL troops in the open. I recommend the use of more woods and built up areas rather than a "blasted heath" approach to provide a little more cover.

However, from a playtesting perspective, this does raise a very important point - just what terrain should we use when trying out these playtests? Too little terrain or to little of a particaular  kind will have signifiacnt impact on proceedings, and may end up skewing the impression of what went on. I know that Sotec ended up virtually dismissing all playtests other than those he personally saw for this very reason. Set up here as a different topic.
