But didn't you lose the first game util you restarted? - also i doubt Chris or any other IG player would field that army in a game they wanted to win.
That you had to restart to show the power of the Chosen just shows the inherent gamble with them of the initiative roll and overwatch - why both Nathan and I don't follow this tactic.
Actually, we did not re-start so much as keep the GD alive to evaluate how strong he was. The OW fire and the loss of the GD did not actually break the Chosen, so we could have carried on anyway. Had we done so, the result of the assault would have been almost identical and the only real difference in the game would have been the Chosen dying slightly sooner. The point of this "suicidal" assault was both to see if they could get in and then to evaluate the power of the attack (accepting that the BTS would probably die as a result).
Also note that, were this a tournament game, I agree that both the armies and tactics might well be subtly different - for example, I might well have teleported against the shadowswords, and assaulted them after using a Feral to remove the vultures that were screening them. Given that these two formations were the ones that actually caused most damage to the formation, there is a good chance that it might have survived the game - but then given my dice, perhaps not
