Thanks D/S

The one advantage I did have was 4-5 sessions with outplacement advisor as part of my redundancy. This helped me finalise my CV, discuss what sort of jobs I wanted to target, run through a list of internet job boards and recruitment agencies to use and then practice of interview techniques and letter writing. This helped me start thinking as to what i wanted so I was clear even before my first interview with recruitment agencies.

The problem is that recruitment at my level is quite quiet. More junior roles are still being hired and comapnies always need more senior finance staff. I need a couple more years before I am at that level so need to find something in between.

I've had favourable feedback from one interview but am still waiting to find out whether for that role and one other whether I will make the shortlist for final interview.

I shall have to think about doing what you suggested on daily routine. Will have to cut down on staying up surfing and watching cable tv.

Cheers

James

Hi Tas

I have seriously considered emigrating to Oz for last couple of years. I have family in Cairns and Penrith and friends in Melbourne. The only reason that I have nt pursued it more is that my sister is out in New Zealand (Wellington) but my mum is still in UK, and I cant abandon her in UK.

I have tried persuading my mum that she should also go to New Zealand (which she loves) and that I could then move to Oz and still be only a short flight away across the Tasman Sea. No joy so far.

I am hoping to get out to Oz/New Zealand for a month depending on how these next few interviews go. Will probably try to stop over in Cairns and Melbourne on the way out to/back from New Zealand.

Cheers

James

I find myself in the same sort of level predicament James. So Taz who is needed in Oz currently (my wifes best friend moved out there two months back to join Oxfam!)?

Welcome back WI, sorry to hear about your woes, but you'll pick something up I'm sure.

We will have to get a game in at some stage - I have a slot free in August...

Hi Chris

Srry to hear it. Been a while since we caught up. Last I remember you were working abroad. Are you back in London now?

Are you still going to Central London gaming club in UCL?

Cheers

James

Thanks Tim

I have texted Colin about doing another game down at Leeds Night Owls now that he has finished his exams.

We have a few people down at Leeds Night Owls who have previously played Epic- there were 4-5 quite serious players who got involved in EA playtest but have caeased playing due to lack of GW support.

I have tried to coax them back into playing Epic again but so far no joy. If we can get playing again with you & Damian I am hoping that you might have better luck in persuading other club members to play again regularly.

Cheers

James

Hi Jim

No good news I'm afraid. A couple of weeks back I had half a dozen job prospects on the go. They have all fallen through. The job where I thought I had the best chance they decided to go for someone who will cost them basic salary of ?100,000 plus benefits- I could nt compete with that!!

As to the others it transpired that they were after specific experience of either specific accounting package or of the specific market sector. If you have nt got the experience then short of lying there is not much can do about it. ....
:(
This week I have started going back to agencies I had not spoken to for a while. I am currently registered with about 15 agencies & 8 internet job boards- I intend to register with another 8-10 agencies.

And will also look at getting temporary/interim work.  I have now reached the point where starting to get bored being round the house. Watching Star Trek TNG/DS9 re runs on Virgin is starting to lose appeal. I know need to get back into the discipline of getting up for work each morning and to feel challenged by work.

Cheers

James
