My WIP Dark Angles army (about a company worth) are all converted on some way. I set the goal that each stand could have no less that 3/5 of the miniatures converted. It'd definitely been easier if I had some multi part marines to use as cuttin up regular marines and carving new limbs and weapons from plasticard is a real pain! Still: As long as it is only a company worth I think it should be worth the effort. My Ultramarine chapter may be a feat in itself but the standard of the paint job and converting is hardly more than average.

My most complex infantry conversion to date is probably my Typhus. Including green stuff parts the model consisted of 19 individual bitz

I almost forgot, I did make two rough rider offficers way back but they were really very simple.

Sigh - I WOULD attach the odd assault cannon, but vehicles and walkers and strange beasties are my bread and butter... closest I've gotten yet is an old plastic Ork dread.  :p

I wish I could read the choices in the poll!
I just can't see the black on dark gray.

I convert nearly everything. I am fairly sure that I have no two Ork vehicles the same.

My favorite is coverting Squat bikes into White Scar bikes. (sabers and all).

Well... I don't do to much with the basic Ork or SM Rhinos (do make Razorbacks and Preds). Most SM grunts are unconverted.

Almost finished converting Chaos Marines into Space Wolves. Every figure a conversion! Each base is armed as mentioned in the SW codex. (Long Fangs used up a lot of Hvy Wpns figs) Just doing one company this way. Chaos Marine figs are just to hard to find.

How do the latest SM characters match up size wise to the Chaos Marines? All the old plastics I have just look puny next to them.

Also converting old goatmen(or what every they are called) into Skaven figures. My Slann / Necron army is coming along now thanks to DRM.

I'd be OK with putting ACs onto termies, but I save my sanity and converting skills for larger scales (mostly because I'm too lazy to WANT to do it).

I much prefer multiple poses, so if anyone from GW happens to be reading this, BRING BACK THE METAL EPIC MARINES, or MAKE MULTIPART PLASTIC MARINES!

FW, MAKE MORE MULTIPART EPIC MARINES (or at least make them available to order online!)!

In Epic scale, my patience is limited to converting vehicles because they don't exist in model form.  Otherwise, forget it.

I put the multipart marine option.  I don't own any but I do convert Infantry for characters etc.

Of course not everybody are equally skilled modellers. However I think most people will find it extremely satisfying to have at least one model in their army converted in some way. It just makes the army feel more"your's". Even if it is just adding a few aerials or a tank commander, a small conversion gives that nice personal touch that makes you feel your army is something special.

I'd highly recommend that people who don't normally convert, at least try it. With just a sharp knife and a bit of super glue, you can do a lot of cool stuff fairly easily. Cutting a plastic commisar in half and adding him to a Baneblade turret is really simple. Repositioning the arms of infantry models can often be done simply by bending them into shape. As long as you're careful it is easy to have some variation in your rank and file troops. Remove the banners from some of your Nobz, remove or bend the arms of your Marine scouts etc.etc.

I put 2 Multi-part F/W SMs together, it would be nice if they made more just for conversions. I've done the odd weapons swope on occasions. Got a bunch of Ogryn with the barrels cut off their Hvy Asslt Shotguns. I added the Top ends of old Epic banner poles, and made L4 Asslt "Carbines" ! :D  I posted pics a ways back.  I think they'll be in Janes this year ! :D

I voted 1 :)

I enjoy converting my 6mm minis, rarely easy to do but it's fun having minis that you did "yourself". I just finished a conversion for my 2? UM company: the captain Sicarius (lighning claws etc...).

OTOH, I do not glue figs to base unless absolutely necessary...
(the new bases require that, the old square ones did not)

Same here. It's easier to make changes that way.

I glue figures to the bases with tacky glue.  It is strong enough to hold them in place but easy enough to pull apart when needed.  It also makes them safer since unnatural pressure (like a piece of terrain dropping on them) will usually pop the unit off the stand before breaking the plastic / metal.

Definitely, I agree with WN.  I think converting is one of those things that seems impossible until you start doing it - then you sit back and say, "Oh! Wasn't that easy!"

Yes, I rarely glue them to the base. I use different types of glue that can allow me to easily pop them off if needed.  All those figs in my pic of Yarrick and retinue are not glued ... :)
