Current Tyranid breath weapon is MW5+ for some reason?
Anyone know why? Should it remain MW?

Hena proposed (for hierophants at least):
Pyro-Acid Spray/ Template/ AP4+ AT5+/ Ignore Cover, Forward Arc

Ignore Cover sounds fine. Actually, all breath weapons should get IC, it would make sense.

And I think MW for Tyranids should be limited to CC weapons and really powerful things like psychic blasts. MW breath weapons just seem sligthly over the top.

I'm inclined to think those stats would be better for all breath weapons too.

Still curious as to why it was ever MW5+ in the first place?

Didn't Hierophants lose their template weapon several revisions ago, so as to more closely match with their 40k counterpart?

Yeah, I am just referring to any and all breath weapons really, and wondering if they wouldn't be better as AP4/AT5 IC rather than MW5+.

I think that would be better. Most Tyranid big beasties will be doubling to get anything done, that means MW5+ will need 6's or 7's to-hit in most cases.

Plus, I'd rather let the enemy keep their armour saves from ranged attacks, for the most part Tyranids should be slightly weak in shooting.
