Then let the AMTL arguments commence :)

I think for EpicANet its dead easy.
CS - Forum provider :)
Jervis - Nominal head.
Nealhunt - Day to day head.

Everything else can go from there. Giving it to one person who plays nearly all the lists, posts a lot on both forums and has done so for ages and is probably the ERC member who i agree with most :) is the way to go. Even a committee has problems and delays. One person is faster and plus he has changed his mind about stuff in the past so hardly dictatorial.

Keep the army champ system ish - essentially have a nominal 'head' of each race for overall review and so on and then allow enthusiasm to develop the sub lists. Core races being Guard (other regiments), Marines (other chapters), Orks (Ferals, Freaks, OGBM, clans), Tau (stuff), Necrons, Eldar (other craftworld, Titan, armour etc), Dark Eldar, Tyranids (different phases), AMTL (Titans, Knight worlds, Skitari), Chaos (marines, cultists, demons, Titans).

Yes one person whose word is final 'unless shouted down by a substantial majority', is the way to go in rule development I think, same as Jervis.  Agreed that Nealhunt would be the best possible choice.

I've got to say I'm totally against the idea of NetE:A.
Blarg is right when he says it's only pheasible with the total and official death of Epic:Armageddon as an SG product.

And we really don't want that to happen.

Now, I realise support has been a very long way from what we hoped for, but think about this:
There are still official Epic tournaments being held at Warhammer World.
Some minis are still being released (Chaos infantry this year)
Lists are still being made official (Black Legion and LatD)
Rules are being reviewed, albeit very slowly (new Skimmer errata last month)
Articles and rulebooks are available free online.
Specialist Games forum freely available.
Battlefleet Gothic just had a new printed rulebook.
BFG also has new ships coming out, and is featured in next month's WD.
Warmaster had a new army this year.
Epic minis are available from Mail Order.

None of this may seem like much to you, but if we start petitioning for the death of E:A and the birth of NetE:A, we have to accept losing the lot.

I think this is too high a price to pay.

Yes, SG cannot function properly as it stands, yes, the whole thing needs reorganising, but this is not the way to acheive that.
Regards,
Reaver

II I think the current thinking as outlined in CS's NetEA thread is not to fork
development at this stage as that would hurt both SG and NetEA, but
to add a second, coordinated and [i]complimentary[ i], layer of support
that would bridge the gap between what SG are providing and what the
game needs without unermining SG's position.

Absolutely correct. My idea/plan is to co-ordinate the Epic playing community to better support the ERC and developers. In my mind, there is a large gap between the developers and the players right now. I would like to create a site with all of the resources in a single place. Currently, for a new player, EA is a very confusing game. There are rules updates, official force lists, in development lists, fan based lists, proposed rules changes, house rules and other variations. This is impossible for a new player, and very difficult for tournament organisers.

I think that we should be aiming towards a single page, clearly outlining the current situation and state of rules, openly and available for all players. In this, we can reliably support the rules and development of the game, and if the worst happens we will have an excellent jumping off point to take development up if we really need to. That is why I am referring to this plan as the 'safety net for Epic'.

Safety net.... i think we have it already. We have this forum to communicate and i think a lot of players who have downloaded every available PDF which is currently hosted at SG.

So if SG shuts down from one moment to the others we have already the safety net.

The only problem will be, that GW will certainly discontinue selling SG products, if they abadon SG completely.

GW did it in the past. And they will do so again if they decide to discontinue SG.

I suggest we simply wait. As Reaver ponted put there IS progress. Small progress but progress nontheless.
If we have one armylist published officially and one item released every year i'm happy.

As a token new player (well new to E:A, not Epic) I couldn't agree more- I think this is necessary to encourage any comments from new, and less frequent players.

It's hard to find the recommended changes.  It takes a long time to track down the relavent threads, and is difficult to know for sure which are the lastest, or most reliable (just look how old some of the sticky threads are in the official experimental rules forum).  Also, the format of rules in thread is often not useful- abbreviations everywhere, technical game speak, little text formatting, further changes in later posts (maybe several pages in).

Also, personally, if I know there are changes coming, I want to wait untill they're done before trying a game- not wanting to relearn the rules after a few months; and wanting the presumably better version.  I waited about a year to try Warmaster, after the new army lists were suggested as 'nearly done'- it's pretty infuriating.  For E:A it's probably worse, as I suspect the changes won't actually be drastic.  But I really don't know, despite lurking on here and the SG forums for a few months.  You might want to ask the Warmaster guys why it took them so long?

I think the best option is wait for E:A dead,if it occurs..(I don't hope that) and then we can organize whatever we want, it's the same case as Netepic comunity. Whe it happens you can count on me!!

cheers

Well most of the discussion on CS's thread I believe will just be a reorganization of the existing information we already have.  Making the forum more beginner-friendly strikes me as a good change to make, it allows us more regular folk to find things easier, and firms up the safety net.  Participating in this is not turning your back on SG - it is simply reorganizing our community efforts.  Even if you think NetEA is a horrible idea, helping out with the re-org is still benefits you in the short and long run.

hey the reorganization of all the articles infos and resourceres are the best idea that I hear from the E:A universe in many months!!!!!

You can count with me !!!

but If you are thinlking to create a Armageddon netcomunity I think that we must wait until E:A will dead officially from SG and GW.

cheers
