Hi, I'm in the process of trading with a friend to get some imperials & chaos. He has lots of stuff. I haven't played BFG, but would like to try. What are the most popular cruisers and battleships for each fleet?
I.e., what ships would you not go into battle without???
Thanks, CF

I have to say that the Devastation is one of the most popular vessels, but then its points were increased in the new edition. And, just to add confusion, background states that the Murder class is the most common Chaos cruiser.
I guess that, when talking about the cruisers, it is up to you.

Uhm...as much as everyone asked for the Devastation had its points not raised. Stayed at 190 points even if 200 was better.
And yes, it is the best cruiser in the game but I have a weakness for the Styx.

It didnt...? I will check my book again. In that case, the Devastation is an even better vessel. Always my favourite, and pretty much constantly persuades me to leave my Styx at home. Generally, I avoid the heavy cruisers for Chaos, as they are usually expensive compared to the standard Cruisers. The Carnage would be my second choice. I would also take torpedo Escorts, in most games, as they are the only way to get torps in a vessel for less than 230 points.
