Anyone point me in the direction of models for tyranids?

Or if anyone knows if the vague rumours about a plastic re-release are true I will gladly hold off as I have a plethora of other projects to get on with.

There is nothing official.  E&C reported that he spoke to Andy Hall about it at an event a few months ago.  This was after the news broke about SG basically being "on hold" until the initiatives with GW proper started to come to fruition and produce cash flow.

According to E&C, Andy stated that he did intend to try his best to get the Nid sprues back into production for the (correct me if I'm wrong, E&C) Spring 08 SG release.

This plan actually would not conflict with any other news about SG/GW, so it is possible.  The rumored restrictions on SG are that there simply isn't money to do new sculpts and get them into production.  Despite that, if the molds for the Nid sprues are still available it could be possible to get them back into production for much less investment than it would take for new minis.

Plus, it's confirmed repeatedly (with pics) that FW has multiple Nid sculpts available.  They won't release them unless there is a full line available because it's not commercially feasible.  After their experience with the Tau infantry, they don't want to do a full line to include Nid infantry.  If SG were to release the infantry sprues it's possible FW would provide Epic versions of the 40K models they have in production.

Personally, I don't expect it to happen and won't believe it until there is an official announcement, but it is possible we could see a Nid infantry pack from SG and the LV/AV/WEs from FW.

Neal, what happened with the FW Tau infantry?  I mean, they made them, they look good... Was there a problem on their end?

Problem is that they are CRAZILY EXPENSIVE. Also, resin is a brittle material, so those ultraexpensive minis tend to break with just a small breeze :[

About some tyranids proxies, i use GZG models: the starship trooper bugs as raveners and their aliens as genestealers. I don?t have any use for their predators, though

I'm curious as to what the sales of the Epic chaos SM plastics were like. Heaven knows us Tactical Commandees bought a crapload of them.

It would seem probable that Tyranid plastics would do equally well, if not better.

And that question has a brother: has anyone at GW bothered to even look at the numbers?

I spoke face to face with Jervis three weeks ago... although I didn't ask about Nids in particular, I have no reason to doubt that the Nid infantry sprue will see re-release.

Some of their recent Krieg releases are made with a flexible resin that would serve 6mm well. It may need a different sort of mold, though.

E&C? Little insight here?

But yeah, the infantry is a little pricey at $1 USD per figure.

I can guarantee that GW would sell a boatload of Tyranid sprues.

Yep I had a chat with their sculptor who did their multi-part marine... he reckoned the new resins would probably work better for these ultra fragile models.

Certainly the newer resin is better, as it flexes rather than snaps.

They could use the same molds as they do now.

Any more would be conjecture on my part and I won't speak on the issue.

Well a 'Nid sprue re-release would be good. And it would be nice if F/W did the bigger Bugs.
