Hi All,
Time to see how the Tau play. ?It was agreed to use the current Tau list mainly as is with current errata (no Defensive Fire), but include the proposed Scorpionfish as a new unit (100cm Tracer, -1 on Seekers, 400 points), and modified the Firewarrior Cadre to 4x 4 stand detachments (so they could be sensibly transported).
The Squats took the opportunity of the slightly larger than normal points total to pack the Mighty Doom Anvil company, along with a Warrior Brotherhood, Guild Bikers, Gyrocopter company and Robot Company. ?An Overlord, 2 Goliaths, Rhinos and Thunderfires were added, and for specials another Colossus and a Tech Priest.
From memory, the Tau looked something like
Manta, Baracudas, 2 Scorpionfish, Hammerhead Co., Bonded Firewarrior Co., Kroot Co. and change.

Turn 1:
Initiative = Tau
The Tau begin a major push on the Squat left with the Kroot and supporting Tau units charging forward. ?On the right flank the Tau are much thinner, though some Stealth Suits move forward. ?The Squats are also aggressively advancing, with the Guild Bikers racing forward to capture the objective on the Bridge and one in the open centre on the Tau side of the field. ?The Squat Praetorians rumble forward, but the Tau Manta stays high and toward the back. ?
The Barracudas streak over the table toward the bikes and gyrocopters on the Squat right. ?The Squat AA manages to down one of the Tau fighters, but cannot reach the Manta. ?The first Colossus opens up on the Pathfinders that are trying to illuminate targets for the Tau seekers. ?Concetrated, sustained fire wipes out the detachment, and Squat battlecannon also take down two Hammerheads. ?The massive Scorpionfish on the right opens up....and kills a Gyrocopter. ?Not to be outdone, the mighty Overlord managed to completely miss everything it targetted. ?True to my luck with them, the Goliaths too both fail to cause any damage. Missiles from the Cyclops and Colossus destroy a Devilfish and another two Hammerheads.
In close combat, the Guild bikes in the centre manage to kill all 4 Firewarriors they engaged.
The Manta then fired. ?The Burst Cannon targetting computer had been fragged as all 8 shots missed. ?However, it managed to kill 1 biker and strip 4 shields from a Cyclops, and kill both Thunderfires robbing the Squats of air defense. ?On the left Robots and Gyrocopters shot up the charging Kroot Hounds effectively, but on the right things were reversed as the 2 remaining Barracudas shot up 5 bikers.
In the end phase the Hammerheads broke and 2 fled from the feild.
