I keep hearing people talking about how the Hive Tyrants are too easy to pick out of a unit. How people lose them and then their nice big swarms of fexi vanish from the board to fast... Has there been any thought on changing the Attack Group from 1 Tyrant to 3 Tyrants. With a point cost increase from 100 to 200 points, and retaining the same spawn rating? Since Spawning is no longer associate with specific synapse bases, the primary reason to put more Tyrants in the group (That being higher spawning rates) seems to be gone... This would prevent the 'one shot sniping' effect where you get hit several times and have to save with your tyrant and lose them early in the battle due to bad luck. And might encourage people to field more carnifexes, trygons and other big nasty bugs without fielding a Dominatrix.

Well, mostly it's that I hear a lot of grumbling specifically about the Tyrant, and the fact that it's so easy to lose one. While losing 3 Warriors is, supposedly, harder. I can't say personally how true it is, but past bat reports and similar things seem to make it sound fairly bad specifically for the Tyrant. Most of the others seemed to be fairly good at their respective jobs.

I'd like to see the tyrant tougher (4+RA plus Inv).  That is still plenty vulnerable IMO.

Fielding expensive tyrant-led swarms is something of a gamble for the bug army as one failed save can wipe out an awful lot of points.

I think the question should be more of a tactical one, do you give the tyrants smaller swarms to lead so that the potential loss is reduced or do you surround them with hordes of cheap LV/AV broods to protect them?

I rather like having to address decisions like this when designing my army and as I feel the tyrants stats are balanced, would vote for no change here.

I've suffered from the vulnerability of the single Tyrant, and I've started to take the Nexus Group if I want a more "survivable" Tyrant and put LVs and AVs in there with some Raveners and such, and it seems to work.
