Notes:

The Slayer class Barrowbarges are not as common as the Scythe?s but the encounters are rapidly increasing in number. The Barrowbarges look more sturdily built than the Scythes, stouter and stockier looking but still packing the same punch as its brother. One statistic stands out in the recorded encounters with the Slayers. In every encounter it has been reported to the authorities, it was whenever a planet?s population has been exterminated.

Normally, the Necrons are more known for harvesting a target population. However, since the Barrowbarges have been encountered, a change in the Necron tactics have been evaluated. Intelligence analysts have posited that the Necron harvesting was done to gather samples so that the Necrons could study humans better to probe for their strengths and weaknesses and that now the study has been completed and extermination has been decided upon.

The Slayer, in addition to the lethal weapons that its siblings carry, also mounts a cannon that is as devastating as the Nova Cannon of the Imperial Navy or the Armageddon Gun built into the infamous Planet Killer. Known as the Holocaust Cannon, it is more precise a weapon and while it?s range has been observed as much shorter than the aforementioned weapons, the results of its firing cannot be denied.

In addition, there is a variant of the Slayer which Imperial Navy captains call the Sphinx in description of the first encounter with the said variant. Sepulchres are well known in the Navy circles as a dangerous Necron devices normally found in their Tombships. The Sphinx variants are now also observed to be able to carry them and used in conjunction with the Holocaust Cannon, its psychic effects are dreadful to behold. The first variant encountered had a figure of a Sphinx amidships which perplexed the IN admiral as to its utility and gave the variant it?s name. Only when his ship was hit by the sepulcher aided Holocaust Cannon that its malevolent purpose was deduced. Ships hit with the cannon suffered from the same palpable force of psychic attacks that ordinary sepulchres are known for and this results in breakdowns in the chain of command when chaos reigns to the point where the crew ?try to butcher each other.

News of Necron activities in the outer fringes have been gradually increasing and forays are slowly creeping their way into the Imperium of Man. Reports of colonies being wiped out and battlegroups being routed by the Dead Raiders led by the Slayers make it definite that the Emperor?s forces are now facing a threat by an increasingly determined foe.

Rules on Holocaust Cannon, see the topic in Battlefleet Gothic Rules and Background (House Rules) section of this site.

Author's note:
I used the crescent part that came with the Scythe and attached it to the body of a Tomb Spyder. Added some more bits, including the sphinx although you can make your own sepulchre. Stuch a side mirror from model cars onto the vents of the SM backpack which I snipped off for thrusters.

Woah, talk about raising the dead (topic)! :D I presented this ship more than a year ago. No reply so I thought people thought it was a bad ship. Hahaha!

Painted it already. I'll try to get some photos. Painting could be better. Heh! ?

Heh, k. :D Basically it's an exterminatus ship for the Necrons. Shorter than the Scythe but heavier since the tomb spider is fatter.
