Thanks CS. I'd bought some Zvezda towers, and they were quite nicely done too.

Wow !  I kind'a like them !  I see that they make Undead Legion Returns, Artillery and Cav Too !!!!  My undead ancectors !

Thanks for the idea, L4! If I ever buy those I will write "Legio IV" to the banners!

And thanks for the review, CS. The book arrived but I have only just started reading it.

First impression is it was translated by someone whose first language is definitely not English. There are several sentences which are essentially correct (i.e. you can understand what is said) but they just don't "feel" right.

Furthermore, the editing is not very impressive; it seems to me they just took the rules booklets from the different boxes and made a book by adding them one after another.

Still, if the rules are good it does not matter to a hardened rules veteran like me but it does mean it is VERY difficult for beginners to catch on and it is no surprise to me it hasn't (AFAIK) sold very well. At least outside of Russia.

The rules include different formations so that alone is enough for me to give it the benefit of the doubt until I've read the rule set from cover to cover.

Artwork is quite nice. Not on par with GW but still nice to look at.

Yes. There seem to be four main 'undead' sets. The one that I have is 'Cursed Legion'. There is a 'Cursed Legion returns' which is actually a suppliment to the game, and appears to include the Cursed Legion, some human troops and additional rules. Then there is the Cursed Artillery which is a stone thrower and siege crossbow with three mounted shields, and the Cursed Cavalry, which seems very interesting, but I prefer the GW idea of skeleton horses to 'live' ones - I just dont see real horses allowing the undead on their backs.

Generally, I am more likely to get further sets of the Cursed Legion, rather than any others. I will use GW cavalry with a few Cursed Legion swaps to bring them into character. I will probably use the GW archers as well, as they look more impressive, actually have enough bows to use them all, and dont need the armour as much. The artillery is OK, but is standard stuff with some skeleton crew, which can also be drawn from the Cursed Legion set.

MP - Be careful when you review the rules... it wont take much for me to reach for my credit card at this point! ? ?(Right now, it is just the name and the amount of book keping that seems to be involved that stops me.)

In case anyone is interested, the undead will form one of the four main factions in the background to the game that I am (very slowly) writing. They will be the closest to the 'good guys' - since they have been given a second chance at existance that they are unwilling to throw away, and have little need to actually fight since you cant ultimately escape death in the end. Details still to be formulated.

Thanks Mojarn ! Legio IV works for me !  :) With Tribune Artorius Castus, Centurion Lucius Vorenus and Legionaire Titus Pollo ! LOL ! Castus may have been the name of the "real Arthur" ?  ???  Vorenus and Pollo are the main characters in the Excellent HBO series "Rome" ... one of my Favorites !   For some reason I really like the 4 sets !  Past memories of my Rome Ancestors ! :D   And I agree C/S, I'd mount my Cav on G/W Skelly mounts !   SPQR !
