Nah, most drivers have the short term memory of a goldfish when it comes to driving in icy conditions... :p

But it is Denmark - the real concern is the crazy cyclist who would still ride their bikes around.

It is 0600 here and 19? C.  In January I actually had snow.

Mojarn - Danish (in my opinion) is relatively easy when compared to French or German for an English speaker to learn (especially to read).  However if you heard it you would wonder if he even said what he wrote.
The sentence what are you called - "Hvad heder du?" sounds more like "Va heler du?"  (WMN correct any of my Danish - it has been 7 years since I actually used it last.)

No that's close enough. :D

I agree the grammar is fairly simple but yeah, the pronounciation can be somewhat of a nightmare. Especially if you hear people with a dialect accent. I'm sure that goes for most languages but I'd have one hell of a time understanding what people were saying if it wasn't my mother tongue. We have a tendency of swallowing the last bit of the words.

The scandinavian languages in general are fairly easy for english people to learn I think. Probably for historical reasons. I believe many words were merged into the english language following the Viking and Normannic invasions 1000 years ago. Dutch seems to be a mix of German, English and scandinavian language as well. At least I discovered that I understood a surprising ammount of dutch last time I was in Holland despite of never having heard the language before. Funny thing is that most people tend to think they're hearing Dutch when they hear people speak Danish so there mush be something about the tone of the language that is similar.

Norwegians, Sweedes and Danes tend to understand each others' languages fairly well (Sort of like Italians and Spanish people do). However i'm a bit surprised Mojarn got it: Finnish is just gibberish to me :D :p :;):

Concur on the Dutch. My business dealings with them turn up a surprising number of equivalencies. E.g., 'manager' or 'script'.

I found that German wasn't too difficult for me to learn since English is basically a Germanic language with a ton of French words thrown in for good measure. Plus, for me it helped that a lot of English and German words are spelled and/or pronounced similarly.

Well, we are force-fed Swedish at school so it's actually no surprise at all.   :glare:

And I assume the feeling is mutual as orangesm said, Danish is somewhat understandable when written but gibberish when spoken.  :;):
