It is the same old story - finding the miniatures is relatively simply, but the basing is more difficult. Anyway, I am looking for something specific - flat, thin metal sheets, pre-cut to 6cm x 3cm rectangles. Oh, and a UK supplier would be a real advantage!  :glare:

Alternatively, does anyone have any suggestions for this. Wood is not great as it is usually too thick and I worry that it wont take water-based paints so well. Plasticard would work if it came cut to size and was rigit enough not to warp or bend... and was thin.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Might be an idea to say how thin? I mean would 2mm be to much?

Hi CS,

I (should be) soon getting an order sorted for 1500 20x40mm plastic bases, the same thickness as warmaster bases. I intend to make my spares available to anyone interested for (again, should be!) about 10p a base (warmaster bases are 25p each!!). If they're any use,  I'll put you top of the list.

I can find bases at 2mm, and if they the best then I couldlive with them. 2mm would probably be OK... especially if they were metal or plastic. I guess that the problem is that these are for Vis Bellica, and VB used to sell a metal basing set which was brilliant. I think that I just got spoiled... and then they stopped making them.  :(

TuffSkull - if they came in at 60mm x 30mm for 10p each, I would probably pick up 500. I currently have a load of Warmaster bases.

I think your best bet would be Litko. They do metal and will custom cut to any size you want. Not in the UK, but with all those cool new markers it might be worth it for you.

I did email them. They have 0.8mm ply and metal covers, but not actual metal bases. I could probably get the ply in the UK and avoid the larger shipping costs.  :(
