So, I was checking the prices of some epic minis in three of GW online stores: UK, US and Italy, getting some interesting results (conversion in Euro made by x-rates.com, I guess they can fluctuate by a few decimals depending on where you look but the end results stay the same).

Ordered by cheapest to most expensive:

steam gargant:
15? = 22.1868  ?
30$ = 23.4980  ?
25 ?

SM char pack:
7? = 10.3538  ?
15$ = 11.7490  ?
12.5 ?

SM terminators:
13 ?
17$ = 13.3155  ?
10? = 14.7912  ?

SM rhino:
10? = 14.7912  ?
22$ = 17.2319  ?
18 ?

Notice how rhino and termies are priced the same in UK but differently in US and Italy.

Indeed, odd pricing. I never noticed that Rhinos are $5 more than Termies, probably because I wasn't planning on buying any new Rhinos. It seems that Rhinos are underpriced in the UK compared to elsewhere.

It is even Worse over in Canada.
An example is the new Eldar Box Set of scouts for 40k
$25 US
$40 Can
now even factoring in Exchange and shipping costs it is over price in Canada by almost 7 dollars
Epic stuff is the same way,  but almost worse, an example is the Eldar Warhost
$12 UK
$20 US
$30 Can

So British Pounds converted to US, comes to $22 US. So the Americans are gettting a break on the price by 2 bucks, But here in Canada we are getting Bum Rushed again. If i buy it from the UK the converted price is $25 Can. , if i buy it from the US the converted price is $23 Can.
So as it stands it is actually cheaper for me to mail order my stuff from the UK of US online store and the is even when you factor in shipping. I did a order using the Canadain online store and then the US online store and I saved nearly 25 bucks, and that is a heck of alot of money.
I went into the local GW store and was looking around (that how i determine what i am going to buy...i consider there stores a gallery to browse, but never buy :) )and one of the guys had seen me in there before and knows I play but asked why i don't buy from them. I explained why and he was like, oh it is inflation and the shipping cost that makes it so high in Canada....I then basically took him apart verbally. The Canadain dollar is at one of its strongest points in history, at one point it was nearly trading on par with the US dollar, Inflation doesn't even factor in, and the shipping comment is ubsurd, considering when i place a rather large order it only cost me 12 bucks in shipping, even spread evenly among all the models I had purchased it only raised the cost of them slights, no where near the price GW canada is asking.
I sure hope all the latest going ons with GW force them into a situation where they have to drop prices, or add more content to make them worth purchasing, but i doubt that will happen...

Whoo, long rant... and my first post too :)
I am just getting back into epic after unfortunately having to sell all my stuff 5 years ago to keep a roof over my head.

Do the US prices include sales tax?

I do my ordering from UK mail order, as Oz has no SG mail order yet. They take the VAT off the cost for non UK buyers. I find that the US is cheaper, however their postage costs are through the roof. So its UK for me. There are some wierd things going on with pricing out there.

Cheers

In New Zealand I've never bothered to sit down and work out exactly where is the cheapest place to order from - I just want my figures! ? :D
I tend to just go UK, haven't ordered from the US for a while.

Also welcome to the forums bmans5!

Generally, the only time that a company is required to charge sales tax for mail/internet orders is when the orderer and the company are in the same state (GW only charges sales tax in Maryland, IIRC).  Also, there's at least one state that does not charge sales tax (Oregon).

Welcome to the forum, bmans.

Don't worry, long rants are okay, especially if it concerns GW.  :D
