Can I just say, quietly, from the back, that I've never actually finished an army, ever

I could say the same thing. I do not think an Army is ever really finished.....

.........And I want a formation of X, and some more Ys, oh and I need another Z so it is a full wing......

I will finish my armies the day I die.

dafrca

I agree that an army is never really finished but it would be good to get one actually playable without proxies, unpainted minis etc

I believe in reincarnation so I'll be back to finish them

Well, my to-do list keeps expanding... everytime I make vows to be disciplined and finish an army, I start collecting at least two others... ????

At the mo, I am tied up doing my SG Titan entry, but here's what I have to do (and a few I'd like to do) by game system:

Epic:
- Finish SG Titan
- Complete & Paint approx. 7,000 (at least) points of Orks
- Complete and paint approx. 5,000 points of Fire Storm Space Marines
- Complete and Paint 3,500 point Iron Warriors Chaos army
- Complete and Paint 5,000 point AMTL army
- Finish a few add-ons for my Iron Hands Marine army
- I'd also like to expand my IG army to 5,000 points, and do a Tyranid army... though the latter depends upon GW re-releasing them, 'cause I aint paying eBay prices for 'em!

40k:
- Finish painting all my Inquisition Units (Storm Troopers, 2 Inquisitors and retinues, Death Watch Kill Team)
- Complete and paint a 1,500 point Colossian Imperial Guard Mechanised Infantry army
- Finish my Fire Storm Space Marine army (though I'm waiting until they make the rumoured Plastic Drop Pod models to do that - if the rumours are true!)
- Start making and poiting a HUUUUGE, narrative-themed Lost & the Damned army which will include about 200 models, filling every army slot
- Make & paint a NEW Space Marine army for which I currently have many ideas...
- I'll also have to help my fiancee's kids to make and paint their armies - Space Marines & Sisters of Battle respectively; I'm now thinking of doing a 'quick' 1,500 point Tyranid army to play against theirs (!)

BFG:

- Finish painting my big Imerial Fleet
- Finish painting my Fire Storm Space Marine Fleet
- Make & paint a Chaos fleet to tie in with my planned 40k L&tD army
- I'd also like to make a Tyranid fleet made entirely from converted 40k 'Nid models

Others:

- Seeing as I can't sell them, make & paint two armies for Void: Junkers & Viridians
- I'd also like to get some of the DRM stuff, humans for Epic IG proxies, and I'm thinking of getting some of the Lizardy-type ones (whose name currently escapes me ???? ) - KRAYTONIANS, that's it! - as they're a bit different from all my other 6mm armies

Terrain:

This is a biggie. ?the move to France is looking more and more likely to go through soon. ?And we're still in favour of offering Wargaming holidays from it. ?So I'll be able to make terrain - lots of it ?:D ?including (to start with):
- 3-4 8x4foot 40k themed tables & scenery (including ruined city, industrial zones, shanty-town, and generic battle-field stuff
- 3-4 8x4foot Epic themed tables, including a big City in various states of ruin

Then there's my own personal terrain desires:

- 1-2 BFG tables
- I also want to make a 4x4 or 6x4 Table which will represent the interior of a Space Craft. ?I've amassed literally dozens of those Necromunda Plastic Bulkheads, and I plan to combine this with the new Imperial city stuff and crochet sheets (! ? ) to make something that looks vaguely Space ship interior like, and play some fun 'boarding action' type games of 40k.

So that should keep me occupied at least till rapture, ha!

...than again, when I look at this list as it is now, it doesn't seem that much...  ???

Me too!  :D  Fortunately for me Squad Leader satisfies my need to play a tactical level WWII game.

Now that I've consolidated all my unpainted lead from the 3 different locations I had it stashed I now I have a stack of boxes containing blisters and only blisters that measures 2 feet x 4 feet x 4 feet...

Nice to be able to say that you have over a cubic yard of miniatures. :D

Next stop: a cord of lead!

It's all fun and games until you have to move... :p

I almost got lynched by my friends after they helped me move last time... the only thing that saved me is the fact that after lugging a 15 foot cube van of nothing but books up three flights of stairs they couldn't work the energy up to do it...

Seriously though... I think I've "completed" a grand total of 2 armies in the last 15 years so file me under the "ambitious unachiever" category when it comes to finishing projects...

Fair enough, I do have enough painted, based, figures to field armies in a few games. But still, it is not like I have put away the boxes and called them "finished".
