Hi all,

I've just been reading the ogre army list and background.  It looks fantastic but I must be missing something...

All the Ogre units are under 200 points  ???

Theses are praetorian class weapons that are nigh on indestructable by the looks of the rules.. (Saves on 2D6's of 2+, immune to any weapons with out a -1 save, massive amounts of damage points, high CAF, amazing weapons!)

Did I miss something?

Yeah, the rules don't quite look like they were properly integrated into the NetEpic points structure too well ?:). ? It would be kinda cool to see a proper NetEpic 5 Ogre list. ?Some long lost forgeworld still utilising technology from long before the age of strife and all that....tacnukes might be kinda hard to cost.  I'm guessing an Ogre MkV runs to about 4000 points  :p

I'd actually put them around 1000-1500 points or so for most models. They're tough, but definitely not worth as much as an Emperor (Which would really tear them apart with it's Plasma Annihilator. 12 shots on the things hitting on 3+ and a -6 save-mod? Even on 2d6 they'll be hard pressed to save against that! And it only really takes 3-4 hits to cripple one if you pick the right things to shoot at. Take it's main batteries and start hammering it's secondaries with something good at killing titans and it'll fall or become useless reasonably fast).

The Mk V would be around 1500 points I think. Expensive enough you could easily field 3 Reavers for the same price or 2 Warlords without much trouble. Two or three of them would make an entire army, which seems about right. Infantry would have more trouble killing them. But they have no shields at all and you start doing damage immediately (And if they fail their save there's still a 50/50 chance you just completely destroyed whatever part you're shooting at). I think that the tread-units should loose an additional tread for each Piercing point on a weapon, too, though.

I thought the points values were a bit out of sync!  How did it get past QA and balancing with those values though?  DId the reviewer just love them to much  :D

The OGRE list was published in a back issue of Incoming! and IIRC did not go through the usual list review. Neither did the Alpha Complex armylist (made by yours truly) or the sepatrate Exodite list (by yours truly and Nils Saugen), BTW.

NetEpic 5 Editor has just been very dedicated to his work and made a proper armybook for each and every list ever appeared anywere near the netepic group.

Does that mean if I start work on a Bolo army list it'll see mounting too?  :D

In all seriousness, if you pumped the cost on the bolos to around 10x what they are now, I think they'd be reasonable. Dangerous, painful to fight and hard to kill, but you'd expect that since 2 of them is a 3000 point army and  they'll assuredly be badly outnumbered.
