Maybe he was thinking of these:

Still poor horse with these.  :8:

Anyhoo...

I finally got my three Panzers in the mail.  I was a bit disappointed at how small they were -- more like 10mm than 15mm, which is nominally the scale for A&A Minis.  Oh, well.  They were cheap.

I'm in the middle of a home improvement project (what my wife lovingly and tenderly calls a "Break It Yourself Project"), so I didn't have time to start kitbashing.  However, I took a couple comparison photos of the Panzer II next to a Rhino and an Ork battlewagon:

That should give you an idea how long and wide that thing is.  I have no idea as to the dimensions of a "real" SG Battlefortress, so if someone could chime in on how this thing compares size-wise, I'd appreciate it!

Hopefully tomorrow I can set about cutting panels and building up the body of the Battlefortress.  Then I have to make some decisions about turrets, etc.

Thanks,
jav98

I wouldn't worry ablout the size, I found the 'real' battlefortress disapointingly small, especially when they said ye olde ones count as wagons......but...but.....they're bigger :O A little wider than your Flamm but not as long, by the time you've orkified yours'll be bigger I'm sure.
Interesting bits in the background too, what are those?

Just a point for those who do not know. A&A said they were 15mm and refuse to admit they are not. But there has not been a mini come from one of their boxes that is 15mm yet.

Troops are closer to 12mm, vehicles range from 12mm to 8mm, and the planes and some of the other stuff is much smaller.

I would not want someone to buy any thinking it was 15mm just because they claimed it was.

I'm hoping that building them up with plasticard on the gunwales will give them some bulk.  I like my Ork vehicles beefy!

The stuff in the background is another Flammpanzer, a bunch of Warbuggies, and a couple of Renegade Legion grav tanks on my scratchbuilt flight bases.  I can post more pics of those if you want to see them -- I finally finished flocking the bases of them about the time the previous boards crashed.

Thanks,
jav98

I can not wait to see what you end up with on this one. I think the tank you selected makes a great starting place!

Well, I keep getting sidetracked with my Gargant, but I'll see if I can start one of these things by next week.

I also have been eyeing a Mechwarrior mini that I think would make a good base for an Ork superheavy:

They're about $1.29 each, which makes them cheaper than the A&A PzII's which I bought, and they're significantly larger.  So I might pick up a couple after my wife gives me my allowance and see how they would do.

.

Not meant to add presure. Sorry.

By the way, I like the Mechwarrior stuff, but I am reluctant to use it because it is that soft plastic. Just my thing I guess.

Mind letting me know where you can get those at that price?

All the ones I've seen have been a bit more.

Sigh -- wasn't able to do any model work this weekend;  wife has me tearing out and reframing the basement.  Won't be able to do any this coming weekend either, darn it.
