Ohhh, yes please! We did something similar for BFG as well. Real life battles make very interesting scenarios.

@CS: I PM-ed the 1.0 rules to you (Battle of Silver Nebula). Tell me if it is OK to put them up for discussion here on you prefer development to be strictly offline before publication.

Cheers,

Xavi

We designed it for the classic Imp-chaos engagement, so a 255 pts repulsive ;)

Xavi

Should be good. The Repulsive is my favourite  :D  :D  :D

Repulsive would have been better as the Bismarck for me. It's just too much of a heavy hitter to be the Graf Spee. The Hades would do better I think as the Graf Spee.

I know. The problem is that unless the chaos vessel *is*powerful, a regular cruiser plus 2 light cruisers can simply gang on it and send it to the bottom (assuming the void _has_ a bottom, that is).

A HC might be an option, but the graf spee was more powerful than the other ships, and this tries to ilustrate it. Tomorrow we are likely to test the scenario twice or so, so I will tell you how it went :) if it is too powerful we will see how we downgrade it.

Cheers,

Xavi

Didn't SG host the scenario Cold War once? Aboutthe destruction of the Bismarck? Chaos had a Desolator (bissy) and a Repulsive. Against 3 IN vessels.

Maybe I can search the file and send it.

Good initiative Xavi!!

Ok,

Playtest in progress. So far so good. This afternoon we played the escenario 4 times (well, 5 times, actually, but since the Graf Spee got crippled by a single torp salvo scoring FIVE hits in the second game, we restarted it...), including some tweaks in each version of it and IMO improving it as we went. Some tweaks are still needed to the basic escenario but it is progressing rather well :)

The results were quite historical: the Exeter got mauled by the Graf Spee, and only the intervention of the Achilles and Ajax saved it from certin death. However, the dauntlesses proved too powerful once the graf Spee got downgraded to HC status, so they will need a downgrade themselves (and maybe an upgrade of the spee as well).

Some of the major changes have been downgrading the grave Spear to HC status and playing along with reserves for the IN. The final escenario looks good, even if some further playtest with the different ships. It might be that we overdid the downgrading of the graf spee and right now it really struggles to win at all. A new upgrading is in order, but not as high as it used to be (it simply ruled the first game without sweating, when it was a repulsive).

CS, when do you need the article? it is to plannify the testing better. Thx :)

Xavi

Part of me says as soon as possible... the rational part says that I still have very little actual material for the next issue, so there is no real rush.

I will try to playtest it further in 2 weeks time and send the results after that.

Cheers,

xavi
