...also toying with the idea of using field artillery towed by elephants!!! :D

That sounds so cool. Look forward to seeing your army once it is done.

I bought two packs of MC5 British Colonial Infantry (48 inf in each pack) at ?2.00 per pack for the standard IG figures. I also needed two packs each of GWB11 British Trench mortars and GWB22 British Heavy Machine guns at 40p per pack for the support troops. This came to ?5.60 + P&P ?for the basic company, the extras from other manufacturers for the command stand came from my ?bits box?, so were free although if I wanted to get them for the project I would add in another ?2.00 to the cost. ?8.00 or ?9.00 would be the total cost for the company including P&P. A bit pricey but you get exactly what you want and have plenty of spare figures to start building another company or extra platoons.

Pricey?

Games Workshop Imperial Guard Infantry Company =  ?12.00

Your Great Idea Company =  ?8.00 to  ?9.00

Hum, let me see. I do not think  ?9.00 is too pricey for such a great and fun Company.

Following up on these kind of theme, you could do quite a few different armies using period troops like this.

I feel a song coming on: Men of Harlech!

Fantastic miniatures by the way!  Do you remember an old WD article featuring a scenario for the battle of Orks Drift? I think this army was custom made for that scenario!

Jok3r, love the ?Zulu? screen shot, I need to get micro speakers that play ?Men of Harlech? to mount on the command stands.

Dafrca, your entirely right, I?m just getting stingy in my old age. Buying cheap stuff from Heroic & Ros caused temporary amnesia regarding GW pricing policy. Being informed of the prices of the new urban terrain by a shop assistant at my nearest GW ?store has brought me back to reality!
