Oddly, a fair portion of political arguments I've been in have resulted in similar moments.

That's a scary thought. That's probably one reason why I try to stay out of political arguments.

Funny comic, though.  :D

I usually find it amusing and educational if the other side is well-informed.  I've even been known to *gasp* change my mind!

OTOH, if someone has formed an opinion in the absence of the relevant historical facts, it's not worth bothering.

Actually, people like the adult shown in this comic strip annoy the hell out of me. I mean, not knowing some random trivia doesn't mean that todays youths are any less stupid than the youth of years gone by (my opinion is that youth and ignorance have always gone together like hand & glove). Not only that, but most of the adults that I know who would be so snide to kid about this kind of thing usually are much more mature than the kids that belittle.

It seems like the point of this strip is "ha ha! You're a kid and you're stupid!"

I guess.

Oh, and the old guy in the strip was being sarcastic, not ironic, but it is ironic you didn't know that.

Ummm... sorry but I'm afraid it is irony and not sarcasm.

It's irony in the sense that GW has blatantly ripped off actual historical units and setting details lock stock and barrel to populate  "their" universe.

Too be blunt about it theres practically nothing original in any of GW's settings and not knowing that the game you play has done that is in fact irony.

And you arent being sarcastic? :;):

Each to their own. ?If you dont like it - fine. ?I think its a pity because there is so much irony AND sarcasm that it quite amusing there.

I'm not going to argue with a guy I dont know about a cartoon strip thats for sure :)

It used to be an amusing game in the first days of RT - seeing what bit of history got ripped off and had the names changed. ?But then as it continued and names didnt even get changed much, it got pretty dull.

There were some objections a few years ago too about GW's insensititivty about reusing names from the Spanish Inquisition and so forth.
