BB is as old (if not older) than 40K.

It's great fun to play and the new PBBL rules have done much to re-inject the mayhem that was drilled out of the tournament biased version 4 which ended up being so blanced we felt it was little more than chess with a ball.  Your opponet springing a pit-trap just as you get to the end-zone may ruin your entire drive and cost you the came, but that's BloodBowl!  (Returning the favour with an evil cackle three matches later is also an essential part of BloodBowl.)

Once you get the hang of it I stronlgy suggest you start playing one of the comedy teams like gobbos, halflings etc.

Orde

One more question - if it's that good, and it DOES have some following - why's it stuck with SG and not better flogged by GW? Because you just need a team of models, so if you play BB you wouldn't invest in a mega-army? ????

That's right, 16 models isn't even a decent unit in most WFB armies -  even if a BB fan had every team available that still doesn't compare to a WFB player with two armies. Only so much selling they can do.

Hi!

The answer to that is simple.

You only need the rules and two teams.

Not much opportunity to milk you customer base with repeated revisions and endless resculpts of the same armies.

In other words it dont make as much money as 40k and fantasy does.

Wessex Games (of Aeronef fame) also have some fantasy footall rules call Footbowel"

Shadowforge Miniatures (an Australian Company!) makes their own Gridiron (aka BB) teams. ?They do speciality teams like human female female elf, Nuns, Female Orcs, Playboy Bunnies (my favourite, I have one waiting for some love - I mean attention) etc with coaches and cheerleaders to go with them. They are nicely scultped figs

Hi Guys,

I think Bloodbowl is a great game... very easy to follow and fun.

Some of the teams like the Halflings have about ZERO chance to win, but fun isn't about winning!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi,

I found Blood Bowl in 1990 I think it was so it's an old game. I recently re-acquired it and I cannot sing it's praises loudly enough.  I've currently got the 1992-3 version (2nd?) but with the rules being online now I don't actually need to buy the new ones so that is very cool. (GW in non profit shocker?)

I've also got a fair few Blood Bowl teams -

Human
Orc
Skaven
Halfling (they go squish)
Chaos
Undead
Wood Elf
Dark Elf

Being able to play by email as well has extended the list of opponents massively.  Excellent game to play if you have a spare hour or so as you can easily adapt the rules for a shorter game.

I missed these girl teams. They are awesome! A team of nuns...how perverse! I love it.   :D  I like how the Orc players all have flower names. Some of these players sure are attractive. :p The Bunny team sure would make Heff proud.
