Sounds fair enough, perhaps I can put a note in the Manta's entry in the army list - or would it be better to do a new unit entry with the modifications required?

IMO ... the Gue' should have nothing Imperial save for small arms ... In other words, just an Infantry det. 0-1/Cadre, like Kroot (and hopefully Vespids).  The list does not need to be convoluted, IMO ... just me, do what works for you !  :;):  And the Gue' and Kroot should be able to ride in Tau transport ...:D

L4, Nerroth's Gue'senshi list is a Tau variant list which has human troops and equipment mixed with Tau.  Its not a replacement for the main Tau list, its specific to Nerroths Gue'senshi background (the lnks in his signature have the details).
