First I get 3 very nice Tempest battle tanks in the mail from an auction I won. This completes my [I]old school of design[\I ]Eldar collection.

Now the bad part is that I tried leaving feedback to the seller,
saying all was ok, then I get this email that says my account is locked, follow instruction to change passwords etc...
did all the steps and ebay won`t send the email with the new login info.

now i`m stuck, can`t even contact ebay for help since I have to log in to write them an email...and all I can think of is that some guy may be receiving an email with my new login info...

I remember a discussion on this board about someone having a similar problem, if that someone can offer any advice that would be nice...

Meanwhile I am starting to panic a bit thinking that maybe someone is using my account...

The email was authentic since I could no longer login to ebay after I've received it.

anyways at least the Tempest are nice...and will wait until tomorrow to see if ebay doesn't send the email afterall.

hi Denis,
I'd received emails purportedly from ebay indicating this sort of stuff - in my case, I didn't answer them. I'd thought my account was locked, but it turned out I was trying to use the wrong password after a long time away from ebay! If you've answered any email indicating that the account is to be terminated etc., I'd suggest you check with ebay whether this is a phishing email (ie someone using a fake company front to get details) - try this ebay  link - or to go there through ebay directly, enter the ebay site (no need to log on), press the 'help' tab, and find the Online Security and Protection section in the right hand column of the list of links below the yellow box of FAQs.
Follow the instructions from there on - but I suggest you find out what details you've sent, cancel anything cancellable with those details (eg logins using a given password etc) and redo from start. But check the ebay site first.
Hope this helps - and good luck (and enjoy those Tempests). :)

I'm afraid Vanvlak is right. That does sound as if you've been the victim of some sort of a scam.
Try logging in with your old username and password to see if things look normal. Under all circumstances you should send E-bay a mail. If someone has gained access to your account it might be better to close it and start a new one.
Hope things work out.

Cheers! :)

Alright I just received the password resets in my mailbox, (hours late!), followed the instructions and my passwords is changed and all is ok.

The first email sent by Ebay was authentic, because at that exact point in time my password was no longer valid, it had been reset. The email didn`t ask for personal info or anything it just flagged me that my password was no longer good, and invited me to change it. The scary part was that when I did the "forgot my password" steps I wasn't receiving any email from Ebay.

Obviously there was an email delivery problem on their side
last night, or it takes always that long to receive the emails but I doubt it.

Btw, I even got the purple stats card with the Tempests, nostalgia is kicking in! ?:D

I would still go in and a) make sure all is OK and b) Change the pass word again.

The new scam does include them going in and changing your password as you typed in and then later going in and gathering info etc.

Cover yourself.

Ebay is becoming a booming business for thieves. NEVER use the link included in an email to sign on to Ebay, your bank, whatever. Most people dont look to see the web address they are going to, or would even know the difference between a real one or fake.

So if you get an email from Ebay saying member X has a question about the Motorcycle you are selling, and you think, "What Motorcycle?" And click the convenient Ebay link, you see what looks like an Ebay site to log into, but when you do, it is actually another site that steals your password, send you back to the real Ebay, and then comes back later to change your password, email, etc. Then the thief will sell something expensive for dirt cheap using By it Now, get their cash, and move on to the next member they've stolen ids from. When you try to sign on and can't, you reset your password, but dont get it because now it is being directed to the thief's temp address.

If you want to log into a site, type the address in yourself or you a Favorites choice. Never do it from an email.

Ebay knows what is going on, but waiting for chat help can be a little time consuming, but that is your best bet. I've never fell for giving my bank info, and cringe at the idea of opening my account one day and seeing everything gone.

The net is just liek the rest of the planet, a dangerous place. Keep your eyes open on what you are doing.

I got a similar e-mail from eBay ... but played with another password ... then dumped it ... I never bid on eBay, but like to surf their Epic link. ?If I see anything I really like I let my buddy know and he usually bids ...  :alien:

I love Ebay. I've been on it for around 7 years now. Got lots of goods I couldn't get anywhere else. It's like one big garage sale.
