Yes, it could be a sign telling you to go home and paint minis. A more likely explanantion is a group of LARP players.

More then likely an SCA event...LARP generally doesn't like live weapons...

I remember the one and only LARP event I went to. One of the "Knights" was running around in "Armor" made from grey carpet. The "Magic User" was tossing bean bags to see if his spells hit you. And the local Gamer Chick was showing more of her body then I wanted to see. (Think closing in on 450 pounds).
It was a bit more then I could take. I mean, I am a geek, but it was more then I was willing to let out in public.

LARP = Live Action Role Playing
No, her real name was Terry and her "In Character" name was something like Liandra or some such odd fantasy name. If you are into very large women she would have been your cup of tea. But if you wanted a date you could fit into a normal car, she was a pass.
