hi all,
have just started out in the big (small) world of 6mm necrons. Trial 3k list so far is:

Nightbringer
infantry phalanx + 1 pariah + 2 immortals
infantry phalanx + 1 pariah + 1 immortal
pylon
pylon
warbarque
6 destroyers
6 hvy destroyers
2 Obelisks + 2 Monoliths
2 Obelisks + 2 Monoliths
TOTAL 2990

This list is just my first draft so far, but what do you all think?

4 monoliths total isn't many, plus the destroyers have often been thought of as being suboptimal for their points. 1 fm perhaps, but not two. Also, aren't both the Nightbringer and the Warbarque Supreme Commanders? So you can only take one of them, in which case I'd take the warbarque - more mobile and it has a portal.

Tomb spiders are also pretty nice too (Leader I think), so think about including one of those in your phalanxes.

The Warbarque is only a Supreme Commander if you upgrade it. Otherwise you can bring it with the Nightbringer.

I think the list would work, but I would have concerns with having only two formations of Monoliths and no Tomb Complex to back them up. Even a basic Monolith Maniple would be fine for a back-up. To pay for it I would lose either the 2nd Obelisk formation or the 2nd Destroyer formation.

As for the Destroyers, I like them and they dish out major firepower.

Cheers for the advice guys.
tbh the normal destroyers could come out, and that would pay for a tomb complex and more monoliths for maximum portal goodness, although im tempted to put another infantry phalanx in.

it's one of those choices between hitting power and mobility. For all their teleporting shenanigans, once monoliths and phalanxes are deployed they are relatively immobile, which is what makes destroyers so useful. I'd rather drop the Nightbringer to get another phalanx than drop the destroyers.

A good basic structure to work from would be 3 phalanxes, 3 monolith containing fms, a tomb complex, a pylon or two, then add an SC (Warbarque would be my preference), some destroyers and a few other bits and pieces to get your activation count up (flayed ones are very handy too). Then use any spare points to beef up the phalanxes with Inspiring and Leader upgrades.

General strategy could then be: teleport the monoliths and warbarque near the enemy but in cover. Double, fire, retain and assault with a phalanx, using the monoliths for support fire. Consolidate back into another monolith. Rinse and repeat. Use the destroyers and flayed ones for objective grabbing or hassling broken fms.
