No love lost, but woe betide the mortal in the presences of the god machines, that mightily battle, and bring ruin to the Worlds.

Saturday 20th January from 1pm. Venue is Exp next to the Olympic Stadium in London. http://www.expleisure.com/

In the evening we will go to the Crate Brewery and Pizzeria for, well, it's obvious. http://cratebrewery.com/

Imperium Vs Eldar (and Squats) - 10,000 points.

No force organisation charts etc - Wheaton's Law simply applies.

Maximum 18 activations per side.

First retain is compulsory (to speed up game).

Epic UK lists. NetEA units can be taken with agreement from opposing captains OR for a minus one maximum activation penalty.

The team captains are confirmed as follows:

Forces of the Imperium - Richard L and Alun
Eldar and Squats - Mark W

These captains will organise the forces for their side. Please contact them if you want to join their team.

Interesting. how're you handling multiple players per side?

Firstly, the maximum 18 activations means that there will be big units of 555 points on average. There won't be loads of fiddly little activations slowing the game down.

Secondly, we'll use chess clocks to keep things brisk. I will umpire and allow 'time outs' where appropriate for any messy assaults etc.

I have a lot of experience of running big games, so although an alternative activation game is trickier, this is more than achievable.

On a separate note this thread will become a Titan porn thread for the next few months.

Oh, are you planning on using E-UK lists or NetEA? (the core difference is that with NetEA someone might bring an Imperator or Warmonger titan)

The issue I found when trying to have multiple players per side was the downtime between doing something for the player.

E.g.: 4 players, A, B, C, D.

A goes, then B on the opposite side, the C back on A's side, then D then A goes again and it;s been 3 activations where they've been unable to respond or act.

Richard: Epic UK lists - but as umpire I will allow an Imperator as an exception for a penalty of one less maximum activations (17 instead of 18).

Scutarii: Agreed this is a challenge. Big units and a fast pace through chess clocks will help massively to reduce this from being a problem. It is my job as umpire to ensure we keep an exciting pace where every player has to stay focused and thinking about their next moves at all times - I have a lot of experience of running big games over the years so I am confident we'll be fine.

Captains will declare who on their side is going to activate next - so on each side there will be continuously engaging discussions between all the players in each team including their captain - again reducing the potential risk of downtime.

Seems unnecessary to penalise someone for bringing an Imperator. Surely a huge game like this is just the sort of environment where you'd want to see an Emperor-class titan. Would almost be a waste if you didn't.

I might be interested (if I'm not abroad on holiday then).

I don't think there's any need to penalise a team for taking an Imperator. If you're that bothered about them make then max of 1-2 per team (perhaps 2 so that both an Imperator and Warmonger could be fielded). I don't have one painted but a game of this size seems a good opportunity for them to used.

Interesting to hear what might the army construction rules. I assume it won't just be a single list but allow some sort of faction combination for imperials at least?

Thinking about the eldar being a single list as a thought experiment, it is not trivial to build actually You can only have 1 warlock, and most of the support formations have quite a low max cost. Assuming you max out on the big guys (warlock, 3 phantoms) you still need an average formation cost of at least 493. Mounted aspects and EoVs are a given, but guardians will cut down your avg points unless you deploy them as double wraith without transports. Delivering them with double cobra + storm serpent could be a very nice combo... Very difficult to bring flak but maybe it's not necessary. Worst thing is possibly lack of scouts to screen the titans from the filth on the opposing side.

So on the imperial side, i was thinking proper representation is in order, with Marines, Guard, Knights, and AMTL all being involved. I've come up with a rough idea of what could be interesting, but will discuss further once we have confirmed team members. I may look to get someone to set up a whatsapp group or something for full discussion later too.
