Did nothing happen with Decimators in the update? I thought it's a pretty common opinion that they're fairly underpriced for what they bring and thought that it might be getting looked at?

It was not a full review update . A couple of new units were added to Cult lists as it would seem silly not to have them in a parent list but include them in a niche list.

As an aside, with the potential cheap air-assaults available I highly doubt if the Red Corsairs will be considered 'niche'.

Is there a full review update on the cards any time soon?

What's the crack with the Red Corsairs then? What's their "schtick"? To me they look like Marines minus ATSKNF and plus Daemons. Is that right? I'm totally out of the loop with all the new fluff so I'm totally clueless, sorry.

The EpicUK codex doesn't mention what they do differently, it just says that they play differently to the other lists. Is it just the Air Assault and Deathwind?

You roughly have it right, for me this would represent a Renegade or Recently turned faction which sits in between the two armies.
It has some advantages from both lists. Mainly deployment advantages of Marines and Numbers/Daemon summoning of Chaos.
It also lacks things from both lists. Mainly resilience (ATSKNF) , variety of Daemons and Fast WEs for preps and FF support.

Am I correct in saying that the bikes can't go in the thunderhawks (as they can with marines)? and this is not an omission.

(I saw thunderhawks, I saw chaos, --- I had to get involved :) )

Good question, they can in the NetEA list.... This may be an oversight or deliberate, only an EpicUK bod can answer

Both the Daemon Prince and Bikes being left off the Thunderhawk transport list are mistakes. I am leaving it a couple of days for these sorts of things to be caught and then will get updated versions done.

One thing to remember about Chaos thunderhawks of course is that they're as fragile as eldar vampire raiders when it comes to being broken and wiped out when on the ground, not to mention the fact that their daemons are rubbish compared to black legion (or any of the cult legions for that matter), so personally i think it's reasonably safe to say that the other lists will still be seeing plenty of play ;)

Can anyone explain why you would take the brass scorpions over a defiler pack? I'm trying the scorpions out in a couple of weeks but can only see them as a slightly sub-optimal choice by comparison to defilers.

if only the list had been in open development for the last 2 years, maybe you could have taken a look and fed your concerns/complaints back? ;)

seriously, and this is not aimed at anyone in particular, but if you don't involve yourself in development and testing, the lists are worse for it.... I had EXACTLY this sort of feedback after slogging the IF from experimental to approved over a couple of years

"huh, this unit doesn't seem any good"

"I would have done this differently"

"why has this choice been made?"

Can you see just how frustrating that can be for an AC? it's very very easy to be critical after the fact.... NetEA is meant to be open development which means anyone can, and should, have their say.... but not getting involved during the development of a list, then picking holes in it when it's done, really does spit in the faces of the people who did their best :(

ps. and yes I'm aware this is the EpicUK list, but it's based on the NetEA one pretty heavily....

Hey, Kyuss - sorry that the comment came across as a complaint. Reading it back I can see it was poorly worded. Basically I was being lazy and asking what do folk us brass scorpions for rather trying to work it out myself. I genuinely was approaching this from the you all know more than me so I'm interested rather than a 'this looks rubbish' angle. Indeed, Mark and I were exchanging emails only yesterday about how well balanced the list is and what a great job you guys have done.

I totally hear you on the non playtester frustration front (if I get told one more time mole mortars are broken without ever seeing a game in which they're actually played...).

So, mea cupla, and huge apologies - please read my poorly worded question as: 'How do people use brass scorpions? Scout killers, BTS guard on overwatch, etc'. Also, a perfectly legitimate answer would be - they're nice models and fun.

sorry for my moan too, I hadn't had breakfast so was a tad 'hangry' and a little defensive ;)

I've used them in a few test games, they do tend to perform like defilers, only a tad more resilient thanks to the RA and being able to take a BM without being suppressed, they have some advantages (barging, LOS blocking, splitting CC/FF attacks) over defilers but much lower range on the shooting, and a vulnerability to pinpoints and fire arcs which means positioning is more crucial

They could probably stand to have a boost to 4+ RA but that's something to test with the NetEA development :)

Cheers kyuss!

Ah-ha hadn't clocked the FF + CC combo on them. Glorious - that does make a serious difference. Cheers Kyuss. Of course, I'm now inevitably going to grudge match you and bring zillions of brass scorpions ;)
