He played like one should against necrons.
Get thigs on overwatch. - Gte guard infantry into buildings / cover, and get on overwatch.

Although I took out most of the AA early doors, the Leman Russ BTS just bounced shots off it.
The hydra in the middle also handing out blast markers (and so reducing my activation next turn)
By turn four I had the BTS all dead, except for a fearless commisar.
This left me needing to get a shadowsord company off of two objectives.
I managed that, but went overkill in doing so, with lots of landed thunderhawks in support. (I realised too late, that all I needed to do was put a TH on the opposite flank from where my air assault was coming, and it would ensure only two shadowsords could counter charge into the assault - you live and learn.
- i also managed to trap my terminators miles away and out of use - a side effect of being too cautious at turn two, then realizing i couldn't recycle turn three.
I realized two minutes after the game, (as is ever the way) that i could have just gone after a unit of guard in the trees which were holding an objective in my half. This would have given a 2-0 (shall not pass - defend flag.
But a draw was a fair result against a really tactical opponent.

You do me too much credit. A bunch of spawny saves was the chief factor.

A thoroughly enjoyable day. Really well organised and in a great venue. Looking forward to next year.
