The Exeter Inquisition club presents: The Siege of Exeter

Across the innumerable worlds of the Imperium, war is spreading like a plague.

In Cromwell Sector, Governor Berkeley retreats to the Sector Capital of Exeter, only moments before a spearhead of monstrous forces under the banners of the Ruinous Powers. The Tech-Adepts of the Adeptus Mechanicus sense that the barrier between reality and the Immaterium is starting to rip. In desparation they jury-rig a protective pattern of modified Geller Field generators in an attempt to stop malevolent Warp Entities precipitating inside the city itself. Battle is joined...

What: a set of scenario-driven Epic Armageddon games.
Where: Scout HQ, Ashton Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter, Devon, UK (map and directions).
When: Saturday 5th December 2015, 10am-late with a break for dinner at the local pub.
Cost: £8 (tbc) including tea, coffee and doughnuts.

OVERVIEW

Basically, this is an excuse to put lots of painted models onto pretty siege-themed tables and roll dice in good company, and you're all invited. :)

The basic premise is to have several tables of simultaneous themed games, with the objectives on each table having effects on the other tables - for example the main fortress is protected by a series of shield installations that prevent enemy forces from teleporting inside the fortress - these will have to be taken out by aircraft, fast-moving assault troops etc. before the waves of deamons can turn up.

FORCES

The overall forces will be Chaos plus allies (Orks, traitor Guard etc.) as besiegers with forces of the Imperium plus allies (Orks, Eldar etc.) as the defenders.

For these scenario-driven games, EpicUK/NetEA lists will be used as starting points for forces but I will be tweaking the scenarios depending on the forces that players want to use, so deviating from the established lists is heresy and will be punished by fire err, will be welcome. Taking larger formations than usual will be particularly welcome, to reduce the numbers of activations on each table.

Siege-oriented formations like Gorgons, Vindicators, Plague Towers and any Titans with Corvus Assault Pods will have some additional buffs.

The sizes of the forces will partly depend on how much stuff people want to bring, by December I'll have about 8-10k of Death Guard and Deamons.

Please note that all forces used must be painted!

PLAYERS

Initially the plan is to have 8-12 players across three or four tables but there are enough tables and terrain to fit in maybe sixteen players.

I'm hoping to take part as a player but if numbers are particularly high I'll hand off the forces of Nurgle to someone else and just GM.

SCENARIOS

The main scenario/table will (obviously!) be an assault on the walls of the Sector Capital of Exeter. Secondary scenarios/tables will involve taking other parts of the city, taking out support infrastructure etc.

Objectives are likely to include:
Breaching/defending the man gates,
Taking down/defending the Geller Field installations,
Taking out the anti-spacecraft Defence Laser batteries,
Destroying the Warp Rift that is opening in front of the gates,
Take/defend the Governor's Residence,
Destroy/hold the Generatorium,
Destroy the Promethium Refineries.

Note that all players will have their own secret objectives as well. Some of which may involve back-stabbing, he he he...

SCENERY

Between myself and the EI club we have large amounts of good to high quality general scenery. For example here are some of the desert terrain plateaus that will be used for the main approach to the city gates (shown with some 28mm Infinity scenery):

Plus the usual SM-era and TL-era card buildings in largish numbers:

There should also be some scenery from brokenbayonet (some trenches and razorwire from the Exeter Entrenchment collection) and Moredakka ('Walls, walls everywhere!') plus I'll be mass-producing some fortification pieces between now and then. However if anyone planning to come can bring even more fortifications/walls/bunkers that would be very welcome!

WHAT NEXT?

At the moment I'm looking for expressions of interest to know how many people would like to join in and roughly what forces you'd want to bring. For example:

- IJW Wartrader, Chaos/Nurgle/Daemon Incursion, 5k-10k points. Several thousand points of Eldar also available for use plus a couple of companies of IG Superheavies.
- Reedar, Orks, 15k.

Indeed there will be a new post regarding Exeter Entrenchment 2015, this Saturday or Sunday (tickets will be on sale from this weekend too).

Anyway, this thread isn't the place for EE. This is all about Ian's Siege mayhem in December. You can PM me before then of course regarding the EE tournament :0)

The scenery blog has started: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=29746

Highlights for now include a Premethium Refinery and test pieces for some fortifications converted from 28mm MDF barricades.

Sorry for the long delay in updates but I've been away or busy for some time...

Here's a mix of existing and upcoming terrain for the game:

I'll be firming up players, forces and missions over the next few weeks.

Indeed! Which reminds me, if any of you come across bottle tops like this before Tim and I come down on the 17th could you collect them for me?
