Well lets see if we can revive a game from the past, Fantasy EpicA!!

So with the Euros coming up, and some trash talk starting on the main thread, lets get the fantasy game going.

So what do you need to to do? Simple, pick the final standings of the teams, and your individual top 5.

You'll get two points for every team you get in the correct position, two points for every correct person in the top 5, and a bonus five points if you get their position correct.

The winner gets the right to bask in their prognosticating magnificence, and gloat over us all :D

Get your predictions in by 23:00 GMT Friday to play along.

Fun! I've already done half the work, so here's my picks:

Teams

1. UK
2. Germany
3. UK North
4. France
5. UK South
6. Viking

Players

1. Steve Gullick
2. Dave Thomas
3. Stephan Hess
4. Tim Hunt
5. Matthias Hirsch

Most likely source of me failing miserably: France. Don't know nuthin' about them!

I'll give it a go, I thought predicting a UK teams 123 might be a little optimistic so changed it around from that a bit.

Teams

1. UK
2. UK North
3. France
4. Germany
5. UK South
6. Viking

Players

1. Steve Gullick
2. Dave Thomas
3. Mike Thomas
4. Kevin Bott
5. Tim Hunt

Based purely on the fact that TeamUK all got their first choice of army this time round I'll go for

1. Steve Gullick - his record with this particular eldar build is pretty intimidating....
2. Mike Thomas - this is the list I'm most scared of and just can't see how the other armies are going to beat it barring freakish luck....
3. Dave Thomas - just look at his record fer chrissakes!! with him playing marines it's like excalibur in the hands of king arthur
4. Tim Hunt - against this particular lineup of armies I'd expect him to do very well, not a massive amount of TK shooting around
5. Kev Bott - He's had good results with this army and I expect him to do very well indeed

Notable Mentions:

LargoW - his army list is very solid and almost exactly the same as the one RichardL has used to great effect, unless he has very bad luck or makes a few mistakes I expect him to do very well and be a tough prospect for anyone
Brumbaer - his army list is like nothing I've ever seen before and the surprise factor may cause a few upsets

Team wise:

1. TeamUK
2. Team North (I fully expect to be carried by my team!)
3. Team Germany
4. Team France
5. Team South
6. Team Viking

There are quite a few chinny reckons there, and also I kinda hope my top 4 prediction jinxes it for all involved! ;D

So far only looked at the lists:

Team UK have the best lists by far. Team UK North have good lists. I'm not sure about the Chaos but actually Team UK South have pretty good lists (t is us players making silly mistakes that is the issue!). Overall the UK lists are best.

Team Viking, Germany and France all have good and bad lists. I am a little surprised that not all lists from this countries have followed the UK-style, although some have and will improve due to this.

My prediction for placings is as follows:

Players:

1. Dave (just about the best player there)
2. Steve (awesome player with his Eldar which he knows inside out)
3. Mike (F*ck me that list is scary!)
4. Tim (owns so many armies I don't think anyone can surprise him with much)
5. Kev (edges it, although I think Simon will also do well with Marines)

Teams:

1. Team UK (99% sure they will win)
2. Team UK North
3. Could be anyone else
4. Could be anyone else
5. Could be anyone else
6. Team UK South (unless Matt proves to be a solid player even without opponents etc, at which case we might come as high as third).

I'd be a bit careful about saying "UK-style lists are the best". Stephan plays Marines like nobody in the UK does, and he cleaned up last year. Rumours have it that the French scene plays Epic quite differently to the UK and US, focusing more on shooting. They might teach you guys a thing or two about winning with ranged power, but who knows.

I'll have you know i've been to a tournament before! … once! and iirc only two of my losses were 5–0! :spin

Anyway, Per, looking forward to our first game. I've never played with or against thousand sons before but I recon we're in for a lot of assaults!

I'm going for:

1. Team UK
2. Team UK North
3. France
4. Germany
5. UK South
6. Vikings

Player wise:

1. Dave Thomas
2. Steve Gullick
3. Tim Hunt
4. Mike Thomas
5. Christopher Bartels (I highly approve of that Guard list! Always good to see the tank co getting some love) :)

As far as the various lists, i think it's more how you play them then necessarily just looking at them all and saying 'that one's best' - I'll be interested to see if some of the more different lists get on, and whether it ends up changing the UK's approach to the build of some lists - especially things like the ranged marine list, which does take it in a very different direction to what we tend to see over here (where it tends to be a pretty much wholly assault force). I think experience will play out to being the most important factor though, which is why with a combined total of almost 750 tournament games under their belts i've such high expectations for Team UK :) Given we don't have much of an idea about the tournament scene in France mind you, i think they're the big unknowns of the event and could potentially do surprisingly well!

I like the third place confidence gents, but I am playing Feral Orks and have to try to push the games to get finished.

Oh and don't forget Team Viking's ringer. He beat me last Friday.

Just a shame you're not playing either of them then isn't it!

well UK Lists challenge the oponent of the list, our lists challenge the player of the list :P

Of course the Top 4 Players will be our Team (all with a perfect score, of course) and than some other guy from Team Viking.

1.: Team Germany
2. Place is first place of the loosers, so I dont care
3.-5. See above.

Take with a grain of salt :P

My Pick:

1, Team Vikings.

There will be no other teams left on site since they will be too scared to be in the same room as the mushroom-chewing, ale-drinking, frenzied and half naked Norse berzerkers! Thus resulting in a WO win to the Vikings...
