Nick's white scars put up a valient effort but it turns out the colossus is rather good against an army of LVs and infantry. 4-0 to the squats on turn 3 (BTS, DTF, BLITZ, T&H).

The clock worked a treat. Finished with time to spare.

Yes, the clock app really keeps things moving along. Highly recommended.

I went in too aggressive really and the armour saves didn't go great.

Very glad to hear that the clock works out!
Looking forward to use it next week myself.

Last night saw Alan's mighty Hive Mind clashing with the fanatic Death Korps of Hoth!
3 turns where played, ending in a 2-0 for the Death Korps with BTS & DTF.

The game turned for Alan when a Shadowsword dealt 4 damage to his Dominatrix turn 2 and again dealing 4 damage to his Hiedrophant turn 3, while the big guy failed his activation to assault turn 2.

After having done next to nothing the previous games, the Shadowsword shined against the overpriced Tyranid WE.

We used a chess clock, set on 1h 15min for each player and both felt that it really enhanced the game, making each player more aware of the time spent. On the other hand, neither of us felt rushed. Having paused it for the end of turn step each round and a beer break we ended the game as seen below, with me being on 5:55.

I think I'll have a much harder time against those big beasts (so I'll probably be avoiding them). Steve and I also gave ourselves 1h 15 each. We used that time for deployment as well, excluding my spaceship. We also paused for the end of turn phase (and when third parties stop to chat).

I like the idea of using a chess clock, but how did you manage its use? where you swapping over a lot when dealing with assaults and micro positioning?

We played all movement on my turn (including my opponent reacting to an assault etc) goes onto my time. Overall it seemed to balance out. Should be said we're using it mostly as an aide memoir/time both players are trying to work to rather than if you run out of time you lose!

interesting because I think in our last game we were hitting the button making our opponent use his own time to countercharge, overwatch and move broken units. but your alternative is equally valid

We could have used the clock for the end phase too I guess but I think we appreciated the breather.

Alan and i didn't hit the clock for things like counter charge. If it is our assault it is your time you are investing into it.
That's also why i had much less left on my clock, hehe ;D

Again, it is not about penalising one player for using up his time. It is really to create awareness and promote faster play and decision making.
Not only will this lead to less games ending in a draw (boring) but also increases the engagement with the game leading to more enjoyment. (yay!)

I think we can safely ignore any games with Chris! I haven't heard from him.

Couple of results to post:
EC 2-0 Nids turn 4
Very close game with my last activation of turn 4 turning it from a draw to a win. Game saw some all too rare Titan vs Titan close combat, with the Harridan smacking up a Questor and a Hydraphant doing the same to a Subjugator. Crunch.

EC 0-0 steel legion(chris)
Guess we'll see if this counts depending on if Chris can make any other games.

Mat finally made it down, stored behind the boxes.
